I’d think twice before getting divorced

This is good advice in any situation.

O signed the contract that his buyout was based on when he was married to his wife. She should be entitled to her share. She had to put up with all the bullshite of being a coaches wife. Then he wins a national championship, signs a new contract, and divorces his wife so he can move his side piece in with him.

More likely he will be looking for a job soon. Might go back to LSU.

Bebe was stupid for not waiting until after his divorce to sign that new contract.

If you see him at the beach I won’t advise giving him a roll tide. He might kill someone.

It is. We're laughing. But not nearly as much as when we found out you gave a propagandist for the Iranian govt. a PhD.

Divorce law in the United States is one of the greatest modern injustices.

As though she contributed to even $1million of his success. Foolish.

They can either have a prenuptial agreement, or contract for a separate property regime during marriage, but absent either of those, property acquired by the efforts of either or both spouses, including property rights such as contracts rights, is community property. That’s why many rich folks, especially rich folks entering a second marriage have prenuptial agreements.

It’s just as likely, if not more likely. it will be the athlete who is messing around.

Does he get 1/2 HER paycheck?

Yes, he does. But not for work after the divorce. Property acquired during marriage due to the efforts of each spouse, such as income from a job is community property.
Louisiana, Texas, Arizona, California, New Mexico, Nevada, Washington, Oregon and Wisconsin have similar rules. All but Wisconsin were part of Spanish North America, and inherited the community property system from Spain, which had its origins among the Visigoth who conquered and settled in Spain centuries ago. The premise essentially is that marriage is a partnership, and each spouse has an equal interest in the partnership and its success, and not necessarily measured by the amount of money each makes. Common law states have the concept of equitable distribution, which can yield similar results.

They don't protect men in a divorce in Louisiana.

Frankly, any man who gets married in Louisiana after this is an idiot.

I can not wait to buy shrimp and boiled peanuts from the bed of Coach O’s truck on the side of the road in Freeport on my next trip to Destin.

Can you please post the stats that show that professional athletes actually get cheated on by their spouses more than they cheat on their spouses?

Because it sure seems to be the opposite.
