What is the main reasoning for the predictions that they make such a big jump?

You answered it yourself with the media sentiment.

Maybe the offense will be better and keep them off the field?

I'm with you. They are great without great results. Are they great? We shall see.

Maybe the same reason he figures Bama is suddenly 4+ TDs better compared to Clemson after getting thinner at LB and losing their only other quality QB.

One game isn't the same as entire season of results. At least try and discuss the topic. I wasn't saying I thought they'd be worse or even not great, I was just wondering what the thought was on the big jump from the prior years good but not elite results.

The thought is that Brown, Davidson, and Coe all take that next step to being truly elite similar to the jump Clemson's dline made last year.

I think a better offense will help with this as well.

Brown returning helped pump up the hype machine... but we still need a true pass rush threat if the DL is truly gonna be elite.

My hope is that the offense helps them out more... there were times last year when the defense played well, but the offense was shite

We shall see

Give them the entrance. It's all they've got.
