This year, the REC couldn’t devote all of their budgeted financial resources to the actual game, because they were fully aware of the possibility of LSU being good enough to defeat both the Alabama football team and the compensated referees, which would explain some of the calls/noncalls that went LSU’s way.
So, unlike previous recent years, they devoted some of the funds, which would have otherwise gone entirely to the game, to a contingency, which would go towards a propaganda campaign, in the case of a loss to LSU, which would ultimately influence committee members to unjustly place Alabama in the playoffs as a non conference champion with no quality wins. Kirk and influential associates at ESPN were payed handsomely for the change of heart.

For this reason, I don't think Alabama should get in ahead of a 1 loss conference opponent.
No offense to Bama, I honestly think they're still one of the 4 best teams.
But they won't have proven it. They will have lost to LSU, and Auburn would be their best win; and they likely would be 8-4. A&M likely gonna finish 7-5.
Same reason we think Clemson has to win out- you can be as talented as possible, but you gotta put some notches up.

The craziest part of this all is Alabama fans now needing to pull for LSU to win the SEC.
If Georgia beats LSU in the SECCG. Assuming everything plays out as expected Alabama would be out.
1. Ohio State
2. Clemson
3. Georgia
4. LSU or Oregon
