In fact, the average errors listed above suggest that the gurus’ rankings are off by around 35 spots when compared to the player’s actual performance. In other words, a player Kiper or McShay ranked as the 15th-best player in the draft is most likely to actually have been the 40th-best based on CAV to this point in their careers

All of these so called "draft experts" are snake oil salesmen. If they were really that good, some NFL team would be paying them millions of dollars to run their draft's.

I still remember McShay stating that Blaine Gabbert would be a better NFL quarterback than Cam

Yep. Both of them are a joke.

Bingo. I also feel like some of their stupidity is based on ESPN's format of having 2 opposing view points just argue for 30 minutes and call it a show.

Mel Kiper has the best job in the world.
He gets to scout college football players all year and then gets to keep his job when he is wrong.

There is zero way they are making millions. They are making good coin, but they aren't making one million.

this and the fact that ESPN wants them to speak in absolutes. You don't get viewers by speaking realistically. You want some a-hole telling you that there is no way such and such will go in the first round. Then the a-hole watching can go to his friends and repeat and feel empowered.
In reality, there are no absolutes in football. That goes for recruiting, the game, the draft and so on. Too many variables to have absolutes, but ESPN wants someone to speak the gospel and viewers want that too.
Those guys are entertainment. They are not the pros. They are fed information by sources who have their own best interests in mind.

Mock drafts are so stupid. I don't know why people are so obsessed with them.

They get used by teams to put out misinformation. So I think I give them a pass on some of their picks.

that's not what he's saying. He's saying they get fed bs by management to gain an advantage.

True. I got so sick of hear about Blaine Gabbert. I think they just liked saying his name. They all want to be that guy that gets one right first.
I wish sports analysts will stop making all of these damn guarantees. I can respect an honest opinion, but it's comical how mad they get and argue with each over something that is not for certain.
As soon as the pick is in and it's different,"oh, wow, I didn't see that coming." No sht Sherlock you're not psychic.

Exactly. I heard McShay on SVP lat week. SVP asked him who the hardest team to get a read on is. He said he, kiper, and mayock all have great friends in the Raven organization. He said none of them ever get the Raven's first round pick right because of the misinformation their front office feeds them. NFL front offices are notorious for leaking out false info.

Wow.. How you got that from what I posted.

I thought you were saying NFL Gm's paid Kiper to say so and so is better so other GM's would heat up on him.
