You put that Hugh Freeze hit piece yesterday alongside this monstrosity and USAToday Sports reeks of lazy and shallow journalism. The only credible source he was able to cite was his vivid imagination. We have threads on the rant with higher standards of proof. And that ain't a compliment.

You describe the entire content of the Rant. So the hit piece fits.

Who would read an article that no one attaches their name to?

I could have sworn I clicked on that yesterday and it didn't have a name attached. Maybe I need another cup of coffee.

Anyway frick Matt Hayes.

He’s probably one of the posters on here. Where else would he get such insight?

What’s outrageous about 10+ win seasons?

What’s outrageous about being competitive?

What outrageous expectations?

Being able to become bowl eligible?

There was talk in the off-season that Napier would stay with 5-6 wins this year, and probably get an extension for getting to 7 wins. It's year 3 of his tenure...

Based on the last 4 guys they've hired, not sure this is true.

I have no idea about what LK will do, but the article drops some lovely shade on the gators:

quote:

The Florida program, once a beacon for all things opulence and arrogance, is a shadow of its former championship self. Gators coach Billy Napier is another discombobulated, dysfunctional loss away from getting tossed on the scrap heap of Will Muschamp, Jim McElwain and Dan Mullen.

quote:

Muschamp: Elite defensive coach and recruiter, couldn’t find/develop a quarterback.

McElwain: Nick Saban assistant, and an expert fisherman.

Mullen: Elite offensive mind, disinterested recruiter.

Meanwhile, the program fell behind in the facilities arms race, and waited a decade before getting serious about spending money because Steve Spurrier and Meyer won national titles without bells and whistles, why can't everyone else?

I mean, he's doing well there, but he did just lose to a mediocre Kentucky team.

The problem with Florida ISN'T the coach... it's Florida. They've been through what... 4-5 coaches? THEY ALL SUCK? Is that what Florida expects us to believe. If ALL of the coaches you hire fail, then the problem isn't the coaches... it's you.

You're projecting. The problem with Ole Miss is Ole Miss. Florida is fine if the admin stops hiring obvious loser coaches like McElwain and Napier that never had a chance.

You're welcome to Napier whenever Kiffin leaves (even if it's not Florida, he's almost certainly gone). Also, I bet you could pick up McElwain for cheap, or Muschamp. For laughs, tell me which of these coaches it is that you think is secretly really good as a head coach?

The only coach I think that could have worked out is Mullen. He just mentally snapped during the covid year with the BLM marches, changes to the game, changes to recruiting, upcoming NIL, etc. A functional autistic person like Mullen just couldn't handle everything changing all at once. It is telling that he still tries to put his name out for NFL jobs but is unwilling to return to college.

As a newbie to SEC lore, I enjoy Dan Mullen's commentary on ESPN. He seems like he knows his stuff. I wonder if he will coach again whenever his buyout runs out if it hasn't already.
