Yes, because what stronger statement can one make than adding teams that haven't been relevant in the last 2 decades to their conference?

To be fair, we are adding Texas

I understand the big ten has the location for some of the bigger tv markets, but do people from New York or Chicago not enjoy watching good football? They’d rather watch Ohio state vs Rutgers than Alabama vs Arkansas? Outside of osu and occasionally Michigan that conference doesn’t offer much for football. Even with adding usc, if you combined the 2 the SEC would probably have 10 of the best 13 or 14 football programs of the last 20 years and 6 of the top 7. Including the new teams you probably have Alabama, osu, uga, lsu, florida, Oklahoma, auburn. If you want to talk about USC’s potential it’s probably matched by UT and A&M.

The thing that sucks is the non-football programs. How is ucla softball going to like flying to Rutgers for a softball series in early april? Does big ten even play baseball and softball

The Northeastern corridor is Pro sports- The LA area is Pro Sports, while they are big markets, I would imagine they are low college sports.

The advertisers will not want the low ratings for the Big 10 games in those Pro dominated areas (Northeast and west coast) although they might want to TV ratings for the SEC in those areas.

I can see the SEC dominating the viewership across the nation most weekends

From sea to shinning sea the B!G 10 banner waves over all the little regional conferences.

This is funny......west coast ppl still don't give a shite about college sports.

The passion for CFB isn't even close to what the SEC has and that is what wins the long game.

The SEC is only regional. The B!G is nationwide. Kevin Warren just ran Sankey off the field.
I guess I’ll just have to enjoy that regional championship Georgia won. Thank God Michigan was there to bring some national prestige to the playoffs.

SEC is on ESPN and CBS every saturday. B10 plays at 1100 on Fox. There isn't a comparison.

Only if SC and UCLA are restored to previous greatness, outside of that no one will go to away games, hard-to-fill TV slots, and no rivalries. Southern California is not a college football hotbed.

Sports guy was talking on the radio and said this announcement in Los Angles barely got mentioned because they were talking about the Lakers...lol....he also said unlike the SEC cities you won't find people in Los Angeles wearing So.Cal or UCLA shirts, hats, or gear. It's a pro city. The B1G 10 may have just screwed themselves. I thought So.Cal would be a great addition but this guy threw that out the window.

B!G 10

I bet Sankey could have mentally adjusted the conference when they got beyond 10 members.

Also, what have UCLA or USC done for the Big 3 sports world lately.

There are many clown suits to go around.

Nothing, not NIL, nor politics, nor overpriced game days will diminish the unique passion for college football the way these non-geographical, mega conferences will.

Same Kevin Warren who wanted to cancel football season so he could help Sleepy Joe win a rigged election?
