... After Cal got ejected."

LINK

There's a lot of respect in this article from what is obviously a devoted Kentucky fan and writer. Kentucky has waited for 20 years to finally get a real rival again.

There's some telling quotes.
quote:

On the drive home I left Arkansas with two thoughts. First, I was happy to see somebody else in the SEC do basketball right. Razorback fans care tremendously about their basketball program. Eric Musselman injected a spark they desperately needed. Dreaming of better days in the 90s, for the good of the game I hope their fans will be treated to elite basketball once again.
All things considered, it was the most fun I’ve had at a Kentucky basketball game since Anthony Davis blocked John Henson’s shot at Rupp Arena in 2012. I admittedly do not attend many UK basketball games, and even fewer I get to experience in the stands. What really made it special was sitting side-by-side with my Dad as the Cats silenced a roaring crowd on the road. It doesn’t get much better than that.

It's won't be long and Arkansas will really be back. And no matter what anyone says or how much some other places win, there are only 2 schools in the conference that "know how do basketball right." One wears red and calls the Hogs one wears blue and has a guy named Calipari.

Yep and my team has to play them at their place later. I doubt we sweep. They are very good at home and that crowd is crazy.

We love our basketball here and respect the good teams.

I'm ready to get back to where we have been.

I see this happening now.

I don't think anyone disputes that minute for minute Bud Walton is the loudest stadium in the conference for basketball.
Rupp gets louder, but sadly, it's only in spurts and not all game long. We don't allow the right people into the games. You have to be a celebrity or multi millionaire to sit in the lower arena.

We beat them by 10 last year over there. I went there. I don't think their size will be able to keep up.

So basically it's the loudest by default because he doesn't go to many basketball games in the first place.

You've only been in the SEC since tbe 90s. The fact you're admitting that over 80% of your time here has been getting dominated by Kentucky does not constitute a Rivalry.

I can’t remember when bud walton wasn’t a hell of a home court. 40 minutes of hell was brutal but respected

Just because your little fieldhouse, program, & town are shitholes doesn’t mean everyone else is.

I made a post about this during the basketball offseason about rupp arena.

The old people tell you to sit down.

The wealthy blue hairs that sit courtside at Rupp disgust me. They only get excited for exemplary plays and just sit there waiting to be impressed. To make it worse they've shrunken the student section and moved it farther up.

Rupp is not a great environment unless it's an amazing game or someone's out there making posters.

I like Arkansas approach to hosting Kentucky more than Texas Tech. This weekend they're giving free beer to students who come early. Wtf.

Kentucky and Arkansas are the only fan bases in the SEC that care about basketball. The rest rest can get a great environment when their their teams are doing well, but otherwise they really couldn't care less.

I think Volfan has been to every SEC venue and said Bud Walton was the loudest arena by far. Good shite, pigs.

I don’t know what it is about LSU basketball fans, but it’s really only remotely intimidating a few times a year. Legit am more impressed with our gymnastics crowds than I am basketball fans

I went to their game vs. KU last year when Tech won by like 30 points. Get ready. That place gets fricking mental

I can tell. My uncle's wife is an alum and basketball is her favorite sport. She even refs boys high school in the area. Gave them my tickets to the game at the PMAC. Uncle says she was pissed after the game which made me almost feel as good about the win (mostly the finish).

Been to all except The Hump.

I wouldn't say by far but it was very impressive and I would put it #1 overall. And I saw Rupp with College Gameday in town and Tennessee #1 in a Saturday night primetime game. Have also been in Rupp in a game that neither Tennessee or UK ever led by more than 4. Neither game was as good as BWA.

Auburn Arena is pretty impressive too from an atmosphere standpoint.

I would say BWA is 1st and then Rupp/TBA/AU in the next tier. All are very good venues for different reasons.

After that

Florida
The Pavilion
Reed/Mizzou/Colonial Life (all nice but sterile)
Memorial
PMAC
Stegeman
Coleman

I would not say this at all. Tennessee is averaging 17,500 per game over a rolling 15 year period (last 250 home games) despite only making the tournament in 9 of those seasons. Since Pearl got to Tennessee in 2006 there has been constant buy in and I think that generation of Tennessee fan that was introduced to basketball in the Pearl era as a kid or student is now pretty invested in the program as a young adult.

We had 19,000 in the stands for a game last Saturday against South Carolina in a game that featured a team #75 in the NET vs. #108 in the NET.

I think your rankings would be significantly affected by the quality of the opponent and quality of game. If you attended a game at a venue where the home team was playing an out matched non conference team, you won’t get a good idea.

I have seen Mizzou, Florida, Vandy, South Carolina, Kentucky, LSU, A&M, Auburn and Ole Miss against a top 5 opponent. Been to several of those gyms multiple times but I have seen all of those arenas in huge games. Mizzou and A&M were very sterile even with the #1 team in the country in town but the rest were hard sellouts.

Saw sellouts at Arkansas and Bama in wins against a ranked Tennessee team. UGA is the only arena I don't think I've seen in a big game.
