I don't think anyone disputes that minute for minute Bud Walton is the loudest stadium in the conference for basketball.
The problem is giving them a reason to get loud. Now I think we are at least a year away from a really good team but for the last twenty some odd years Arkansas has failed to give the fans a reason to get wild.
If you can match a really good team with a hot Bud Walton crowd than you have something that can be pretty scary.
Arkansas and Missouri have the potential to be dynamite but for one reason or another haven't managed to get there for a some time.

The Nolan Richardson fallout put a dark cloud over Arkansas. For 17 years they had an identity and when Nolan was fired, they lost it. To make matters worse, Nolan sued the University over race issues. With no substantial evidence the case was thrown out. This happened right after Stan heath was hired.
The fallout after the firing led to a highly touted recruiting class to collapse. Heath recruited his way to two NCAA bids his last two years but was fired. Frank Broyles hired Dana Altman but Chancellor John white wouldn't allow him to bring his academic staff, so he bolted after one day.
This led to a panic hire in John Pelphrey and he was fired. Mike Anderson came into play and while he is a big upgrade. I was never a big fan and thought that Arkansas should stop living in the past and create a new identity. Instead they beat a dead horse for eight years. Mike is not Nolan and the difference is that Nolan had a chip on his shoulder, Mike never did.
Here comes Eric Musselman and hopefully he will make Arkansas a consistent NCAA team. Until then the fans are too deflated after Mike Anderson failed to match the hype.

I know us Hog fans are little down losing to Kentucky (Our natural basketball rival) and State (This won't last long) on the road. The truth is none of us thought we would have this record his first year with a roster that isn't his. He should be applauded for doing what he has with this literally small group. We will make the SEC proud soon. I personally can't wait to see what MussBuss can do with his own players!
Here comes Eric Musselman
