Reporter asked him point blank….will you be the Alabama HC next season

He talked about how happy his family is and well the team avoids distractions.

Why can’t coaches simply say, “yes”, and be done with it?

BTW, I don’t believe he’s going anywhere.

All you had to do was listen to the second question where he said yes.

He did - twice.

A second reporter repeated the question a few seconds later.

His response was a to call each of the reporters by name and say “Yes.”

“Nick: Yes. Charlie: Yes.”

This is the whole reason why you have an agent. It provides plausible deniability so you can say shite like this:

It’s remarkable how much play that one singular instance from almost 2 decades ago gets you during these coaching searches.

That denial by Saban has been responsible for crushing the hopes and dreams of millions of people as the coach they want issues denials and the fans talk themselves into not believing.

He wasn't lying. He wouldn't even talk to Alabama at that point.

Remember when we tried to hire Rich Rod? It was because Saban wouldn't even take a call and Spurrier turned us down.

The way they finally got him to take the call was Sexton and Mal Moore got Miss Terry involved. They sold her on it, and then after the Dolphins season was over she got him to meet with Mal Moore. And obviously the combination of Miss Terry and Mal Moore swayed him. As I recall, he was paid pretty nicely as well.

You can all believe whatever makes you happy. But that's the reality and if Saban was going to dodge shite, he likely wouldn't have done it like that. He absolutely had no intention of coaching at Alabama when he said that.

Because it is not completely up to him whether he's going to be here next season. He didn't answer the question directly "yes" because though he may want to come back he knows that isn't completely his decision.

He stated he and his family are happy at Alabama and haven't spoken to or have any interest in any other openings. What else do you want him to say after that?

Danny Lanning neither, but Lanning squashed it with an emphatic denial that left no doubts.
