Mediocre HC Terry Bowden took underachieving players recruited by Pat Dye and took AU to an undefeated season in '93.

And Auburn fired Bowden because he wouldn't cheat like they wanted him to.

``They were paying players cash, $12,000, $15,000 to sign,'' Bowden said on a recording reviewed by The Associated Press. ``All I was told to do was shake hands and say, 'Thank you. I appreciate how much you love Auburn.'''

Bowden did not make clear whether he reported the payment scheme to the NCAA, but said on the tape: ``When I came here, I put an end to it.''

He's horrible. I'd look for Bama to go 7-5/6-6 this season. If I'm Brian Kelly, I'm using Bama week to gameplan for the following week. Bama's in the graveyard, folks.

Bama will remain a huge PITA even if they take a step back under KDB

Any coach in the nation is a step back from Nick Saban

Milroe looked good against LSU.

He was pretty good last season. Passer rating was like 148 or something, QBR was top 10 in the country IIRC.

He's bad, but there's still a lot of talent on that team. I can't see them losing more than 4.

...but that still sucks.

He was 25th in the country. He was five spots behind Payton Thorne.

Milroe fell apart as the season progressed.. His four highest and four lowest ratings. That 148 is misleading. It was based on the first four games and Mercer. He struggled once defenses figured out if they limited the deep ball and QB run he would implode and beat his own team.

Western Kentucky: 374.4
Wisconsin: 225.7
Mercer: 207.7
Georgia: 191.0

LSU: 117.5
Michigan: 104.5
Tennessee: 98.6
Oklahoma: 72.2

5 TD passes and 10 INTs (with multiple being Pick Sixes) in conference play.

Outside of Georgia and LSU he was abysmal.

Unfortunately, our staff seemingly kept trotting him out there due to what he accomplished in those two games.

Makes you wonder why since we are now told there was a better option on the bench.

No need to wonder.

Playing against LSU's shitty defense gave the staff high hopes that Milroe would be able to perform that way every week.

I know the word potential is tough to comprehend where you come from, but even a NFL team drafted Milroe based on it.

Not that difficult to understand.

What should really make you wonder is why LSU couldn't figure out Milroe when every single other conference opponent did.

Expecting Milroe to perform the same way every week as he did vs a shitty defense seems like dumb coaching.

Imagine losing to a team making those type decisions.

It can happen if the matchups are right

Kalen The Bore will do more AND have MORE success at Bama than Kelly Belly will ever have at LSWHO. 1 of the reasons WHY is a no brainer. Alabama's rich HISTORY and TRADITION of being an ELITE Football program and their many National Football Championships is second to none. LSWHO cannot make that claim and cannot hold Bama's water.

Sounds like coaching mistakes to not adjust the matchups.

To a certain extent, but after a certain point, all teams have strengths and weaknesses.
