Just to put this defensive performance in perspective...

-25 other bowl teams scored fewer points during their entire game than Clemson did in that fourth quarter

The 21 points that Alabama gave up in the fourth quarter alone were more points than LSU's defense had given up in terms of points per game (15.8)

On top of that, those 3 TD's all given up in one quarter of play was far more than LSU's TD per-game average (1.33)

They probably gave it to Hurts since he was Clemson's best defensive weapon

it's also more points than LSU has scored in like the last 8 or 9 quarters against Bama combined

At least Bama held on to their 10 point lead at LSU

There aren't many defenses that could hold off Deshaun Watson when they've been on the field the whole game.

Alabama's defense may have been praised too highly, but what really lost that game, alongside Watson's brilliance, was the Alabama offense being completely unable to sustain a drive for the entire game.

If you watched Ole Miss early this season, you saw the same thing play out.

And you would still take it to have what Bama has had since we hired your former coach.

It's the fact that some of your fanbase were saying how this was the best Bama defense ever, knowing full-well that you had nowhere near the depth of the front 7 as last year.

So, this thread is at least relevant because of that.

This is a fact. But it's also a fact that this year's defense got better pressure on the quarterbacks. Maybe that's from player weaker offenses, who knows?

With an offense that could have controlled the game just a LITTLE, this would all be a moot point and the defense wouldn't have been exhausted in the 4th quarter.
