Josh Pate says on his show that changes are coming to the CFP in a couple of years...

Listening to his show, he says there are a lot of folks in the SEC front office who aren't happy that Boise State and Arizona State got byes and that Clemson was able to jump South Carolina, Ole Miss, and Alabama with the AQ rule that was established. He says look for the conference to flex their power with the next round of negotiations for the CFP open up in the summer.

They have to fix the seeding issue. College basketball gives autobids too but doesn't guarantee a seed to go with it.
That alone fixes most issues.

Y’all are so focused on the Bama melt that you can’t realize how bad of a message this sends to the SEC

I think they’ll keep the auto bids but move it to 16 teams.

Keep us posted
Will do.
Just know that when Kansas and the rest of the Big 12 are on the outside looking in when the Big Ten and the SEC finally split off to form their own league, I will not be rubbing it in when you're melting on the More Sports Board.

If Sankey is still leading us the SEC will get fricked over again, probably even worse. He needs to GTFO.

Pretty rich to complain about how things turned out when it's the exact structure that the SEC and Big 10 agreed with.
The SEC and Big 10 had all the leverage at that negotiating table. This is just "Uh, that didn't go the way we wanted it so we need to change the rules!"

You want me to launch into a tirade about the poor job Sankey has done since Slive left?
I’d be happy to.
He’s screwed up everything he’s touched outside of landing OU and Texas.

People who are fans in even those conferences bemoan that potentially awful future product.

Well it's not the exact structure the SEC wanted. Sankey voted for the playoffs to just be seeded 1-12 and not have the 4 byes automatically go to 4 conference champs. Other ADs get a say though so it's not like Sankey can just overrule them.
I believe changes are coming as well regarding this bye nonsense otherwise Big 10/SEC might break off from the rest.

There are definitely some issues.
- SMU going 8-0 in a P4 league shouldn’t be sweating on selection day.
- A team with multiple losses ranked outside the top 15 shouldn’t be rewarded with a bid for pulling an upset and winning on a last second FG (what’s next, a 4-5 loss team unranked pulls of an upset in a P4 title game and gets an auto bid?)
- A G5 team winning their league should never get an auto bid and especially a bye in the tournament.
- all P4 conferences should go back to divisions, 9 game league schedules, minimize importance on OOC games. The division model ensures somewhat, on SOS within each league (see Texas, Penn State, Indiana, etc this season)

He’s just pontificating because he has a platform to do it. We all know changes are coming. Pate is a fricking clown.

Stupid to complain about a conference champ getting in.
I agree with there not being automatic byes. Have conference champs get an automatic spot and home game/bye but at large is at large.
There is no rule that should guarantee the SEC get 4 teams in.

This should never be a given unless we are operating on the auspices that all P4 conferences are on equal footing, which would be immensely bad for the SEC.

Weren't you the one who threw a hissy fit and said he quit football around this time last year?
