Then explain why you fired Les Miles.

1) Roster management decay, 2) his unwillingness to modernize his offense.

We have a better chance with a crappy pre-season ranking than we do when raked #1. No one has gone wire-to-wire #1 in like 30 years. So, imho Georgia has less of a chance to win it than anyone in the top 10.

So coaching matters, period. And you came into Bryant Denny in 2015 with the 2nd ranked team in the nation with Fournett leading the nation per game at around 192 rushing yards. Given you fired Les in early 2016 you certainly didn't have a lot of roster decay. I suppose that is to make you feel better about the reason why you let Miles go.

He simply couldn't beat ALABAMA and it broke that team and they limped so hard down the home stretch, losing 3 in a row, after the '15' BAMA loss he almost didn't survive. He finally beat TAMU and barely hung on.

Of course they can. Ohio State can. Michigan can. LSU can. USCw can. Georgia can. TCU can. Washington can. Texas can. Oklahoma can.

I guess theoretically Vanderbilt can.

Well, they've been a safe bet for so long it's hard to doubt that potential. Not sure why anyone would be expecting a huge downturn.

I don't really see a lot of people saying you can't win a title. I see a lot of people saying you're not the favorite or second favorite. That's different.

The transfer portal has leveled the playing field for everyone. Saban is still recruiting at an elite level, but you can't expect a bunch of highly rated recruits to ride the pine for long until they start looking elsewhere, especially out of state kids. Kelly seems to be focusing more on in state guys this year and I'm happy to see it.

One of the things Kirby Smart seems to have been able to do (that Saban has had less success with) is actually getting a good number of highly rated recruits to sit on the bench for their turn.

Darnell Washington easily could have gone somewhere else for his last year of football once Brock Bowers showed how awesome he is. Instead he stayed as UGA's #2 TE.

Brock Vandagriff could have transferred this off-season. Instead he's staying with UGA as the #2 QB in hopes of starting the season after.

Amarius Mims has waited his turn on the OL.

Xavien Sorey and Smael Mondon have done the same at LB.

All of them are 5-stars. UGA's done very well with talent retention. Saban is pretty good at it as well, but he's had some issues lately, particularly at WR and OL.

You have recently lost 2 key contributors that have or will start at ALABAMA in Jermaine Burton and Trezman Marshall. You lost one of the best QBs in Justin Fields, who becomes a Heisman contender at Ohio State, and then lost QB Jacob Easton to Washington. You just lost Arek Gilbert and CB Singletary to the magic portal.

You are delusional if you think Kirby Smart has ever been able to cast some spell over his players to get them to stay. They are losing depth just like everyone else.

Lol

The only one who was starting at UGA was burton.
And he wasn't that special that a 3 star couldn't replace his workload.

You think we are crying about backups leaving?

His original post was about people waiting their turn. Marshall would never start without injuries. Same for Eason. Same for Gilbert. Same for Singletary. There is no waiting their turn for those guys.

I was talking more about turnovers and decision making more than raw talent.

but your point still stands. Is Bama a ground and pound again?

y’all pulled a natty out of your arse with Jake Coker at QB

Coker had to learn on the go and was a liability for part of the year. But by season's end 2015 Bama was better than everyone else by a significant margin.

When Alabama was on top I don't remember Alabama fans making threads like these. I find it interesting that Alabama fans now feel they have to start threads saying they have a chance to win.

Alabama has one of the most talented rosters top to bottom in the nation and the best CFB coach to ever roam the sidelines. They have a punchers chance every year, although winning the natty this year might be Saban’s best work yet with the inexperience and QB questions. Wouldn’t bet on it but certainly wouldn’t ever bet against a Saban led Alabama team either.
