Tennessee plays Alabama every year while Kentucky gets Mississippi State.
Tennessee has played a top 10 Oregon squad and two top 10 Oklahoma squads, while Kentucky has played Louisville.
Because Louisville, with their Heisman QB, something that neither of our teams have had... well, they're a huge slouch. Louisville only ended up ranked where they did last year because we beat them. Otherwise they would have been ranked higher. We played Alabama last season too.

Will somebody get the Kentucky fan outta here. This thread is for Grumors not a UT/UK pissing match.
Agree with message board poster rich4pres. Let's keep the focus on King Jon David Gruden.

I don't think Tennessee would actually be able to pull off Gruden. But I would be shocked if he doesn't coach again. He has basically said as much.

I'm bored anyway. I'm gonna go pour myself a drink.

Louisville ended up at their ranking because they got their arse kicked by Houston and LSU, as well as losing to Kentucky.

This is what gets me as well. I mean, the guy's life is football and watching film. Everything he does is football related. The man will coach again, maybe not at VOLS, but he will coach again at some point.

Football coaches are wired completely different than you and I.
Why doesn't Saban retire and ride into the sunset? He has plenty of money, would have tons of endorsements, and could get on TV as well.
Why did Harbaugh go back to college?
Why did JoePa stick around so long?
Because these guys are psychos, regular people don't understand it.

lol it is so obvious that it's happening this time
No doubt. This is the PERFECT time for a big-name coach to take over the Tennessee program.
(1) The roster is still very talented. Because of all the injuries Tennessee has suffered the last couple of years, you have a lot of talented players like Darrin Kirland Jr. and Jauan Jennings that could have gone early to the NFL that will be here in 2018. The roster doesn't require a major overhaul. Its ready to win in 2018.
(2) The instate high school talent across the state of Tennessee is EXPLODING. 247sports currently has 20 players in the state of Tennessee rated as composite 4-stars for the class of 2019. That's 5th most in the country after Florida, Georgia, Texas, and California. And this is only the start. The class of 2020 is projected to be even more talented. With the instate talent pool exploding around the state of Tennessee, a big name coach would be able to lock up a top 5-10 rated recruiting class on just kids from the state of Tennessee.
If Jon Gruden is serious about coaching again, then Tennessee is the perfect place to be right now. Its a gold mine waiting to happen.

This is beautiful. Many VOL fans do not even understand these facts that you have laid out.

In the NFL, for sure

With the right coach Tennessee can be as dominant as any program in the country. It NOW has everything you could ask for:
Deep pockets? CHECK
Elite facilities? CHECK
Huge stadium? CHECK
Rabid fan base? CHECK
Tons of media attention? CHECK
Elite in-state recruiting base? And finally now...CHECK
All Tennessee was missing in the past was an elite instate recruiting base. Now it finally has it. IMO there is no reason Tennessee can't be as good under Gruden as Alabama has been under Saban. No reason.

Where are you people coming out of the woodwork from
I will ban bet every single Vol fan on here right this second that Gruden never coaches that program
Period. End of story. This wont be edited. Done deal.
Its not a good job

Well, let's see. Gruden has never recruited or coached a college team. Saban is the nation's elite recruiter, and has multiple national titles at multiple schools.
Which V&S alter are you with such alternative facts?

Stupid runs thu it.
My God he ain't coming. Not this year, not next year, not ever. He is making 6+ million working 1/4 the hours of any good college coach.
You people have lost your fricking minds.
