ND plays 5 teams from the ACC each year on a rotational basis & four traditional games against Purdue, USC, Navy, & Stanford.
Well - given their AD took a blow torch to the ACC on live TV this morning, and the childish bowl game opt out - I wouldn't count on having ANYTHING resembling a real schedule over the long haul once those scheduling agreements expire; unless they change their tune dramatically. Maybe they can get a scheduling agreement with the new PAC whatever, or AAC or CUSA. I'm sure that will help the national brand.
Is Alabama a national brand? Texas? Ohio State? Georgia? Oregon? etc. etc. Lots of schools recruit nationwide - this isn't 1985.

Is ND really a "national" brand?
And the Big 10 has Oregon, so arguably a national footprint.
At the end of the day, any decision will have a consequence. ND chose to be independent, and being left out of the CFP is a consequence of that.

It’s at a point now that if Notre Dame stop playing football, who’d even give a shite?

Same could be said for most programs at any level outside of their fans and a generation of their closest rival fan base.

Why TF is the SEC scheduling games with ND???
Posted on 12/8/25 at 5:42 pm to LOTOTiger
Guess you didn't catch Kirby's interview after the SEC Championship where he credited his victory to the great high school coaches of Georgia and the football system that produced & developed many of his players. Most college rosters are local and neighboring states with the larger programs including "some" players from talent rich states like CA, TX, GA and FL. ND has players throughout the country...look at the roster...it's online.

Think about what you just wrote. Indeed, Georgia has lots of local players. Because Georgia is a state rich in football talent. Guess what Indiana is not rich in. And about to get poorer with the rise of Cignetti.
In any case, EVERYONE recruits nationally now. It's a meaningless point in this particular argument.

In my opinion, if she wants a seat at the table, she needs to sit it it.
