Johnny will get hurt if he tries to run like that

Against....
Ole Miss
LSU
Auburn
Mississippi State
Alabama
I keep hearing this every week. Perhaps maybe this shouldn't keep being the line about why he wont have a good game each week. If you want to beat him and make him play poorly, make him turn the ball over. Stop with the "he wont make it through the game" line.

You just guaranteed Manziel to be sidelined with a concussion this week.

It may be bound to happen. Don't wish it on the kid. But when you take big hits in this league there is bound to be an injury. Hell, Kentucky knocked Tebow out.

I've seen him constantly lower his shoulder into d lineman and linebackers. I guarantee you his time will come. He may make it through this year, but dont make it seem like he is not human.

I will admit I was vocally in this camp. The kid has proven to be much tougher than I gave him credit for. He is a player.

Some guys just now how to fall, how to take a hit without getting hurt. He's also so shifty he avoids the big hits.
He has no more chance of getting hurt than a pocket passer that could get blindsided by a 260 pound DE any given play.

I told y'all he's a tough son of a bitch. I don't like him taking hits any more than anyone else, but JFF gonna JFF, I guess

I seriously doubt little johnny will get through the line. Bama has always had the best run defense because they are gap sound. All gaps are closed with huge DL's and backed up by huge LB's that have the speed to cover the corners as well. They push the pocket and leave no holes to run through. So, if little johnny wants to run he has no where to go except in to a 300 lb DL waiting for him or a 250lb LB in full gallop mode blitzing through a setup hole.

its only a matter of time, in all likelihood. maybe he will be one of the damn few lucky qb's that stay healthy. there are two reasons that he has escaped injry so far
1-he senses when to get the hell out of dodge. h also leaves early a lot; he is a run first qb
2-he is very adroit at not taking a direct hit while he runs
while both of those reasons are good for him think it limits his ability to score in the red zone agains good defenses. florida and lsu prdoved that and so will bama.

"The only way you can check Gretzky is to hit him when he is standing still singing the national anthem."
Some players quickness and mobility, makes them almost impervious to getting knocked around. No one looks back and thinks Doug Flutie couldn't have been successful in the SEC, do they? At the same time, Troy Aikman's concussions ended his NFL career, and Romo will probably never face that even though he is 3 inches shorter and 30 pounds lighter. Johnny will be fine, as long as he keeps his wits about him.

Well he didn't get hurt against LSU, but it's probably not a coincidence that after he got popped a few times in that game he started to play like shite.

I agreed, which is why I was clamouring for zone read and option plays in the red zone.

We didn't run zone read til Auburn, and the option playbook really opened up against State. We were almost traditional Air Raid in those games. Designed QB runs will be used against Alabama, and outside of the QB draw, none were against LSU or Florida. We will see how effective it is.

Not flaming, just not following your logic, GrandDad.
The two reasons you listed should improve his ability to score in the red zone, not limit it. I think the red zone struggles have more to do with the type of offense being run. Even though A&M doesn't run a pure Air Raid, that type of offense typically has a more difficult time producing in a shortened field.

The more he runs the more likely his is to sustain an injury. There is no way around that.

No.
LSU's defensive scheme limited his effectiveness. He popped right back up after every hit like he always does. Let's not pretend y'all intimidated him or anything.

Not trying to find a way around it. Of course his chances of injury go up the more he scrambles. That goes for any QB. However, he's proven tough enough to take the punishment and savvy enough to turn most extended plays into positive ones.
Is he impervious to injury? Hardly.
Can he be smarter? Absolutely.
Is he tougher than people give him credit for? Without a doubt.

You included Auburn in that list....so I know your post makes no sense!

Eventually it happens. Connor shaw went through last year just fine. This year he fractures his shoulder blade. It'll happen eventually.
