The better question is why are Ags still clinging to glory days of winning...nothing of significance with a cokehead at QB.
Maybe because he was one of the greats? He’s up there with Joe Burrow in stats minus a natty

Maybe a legend in your aggy mind. Anm was mediocre before he got there, failed to win anything while he was there, mediocre after he left.
Whatever you say, sip. Judgment day is coming November 30th at Kyle Field.

This is ridiculous.
You could go to a random street corner in LOUSIANA and more would recognize the name "Johnny Manziel" than "Joe Burrow".

You are clueless. You really show how little you Longhorns know about SEC football.

You must've realized I was right on that last one.
Random shopping mall. Ask women only, no men. Who's Johnny Manziel? Who's Joe Burrow?
Uh-huh, you know..

No offense but did u just start watching football when he got to college?

And what would these LSU corner dwellers remember Manzel for, specifically? And Burrow, specifically? But, then your proclaimed knowledge of Louisiana football fans is just plain stupid. There are 1000's of LSU fans watching Burrow's Bengal games on Sundays. It's safe to assume 1% or less ever watched any of Manzel's pro games.

LSU: we owned him!! *shits all over thread*
Sorry for bursting your bubble, but I was replying to the poster who said he thought Manzeil would have been a good pro if not for his off-field issues. I disagree, based on Manziel getting exposed toward the end of that season when he ran into a good pro-style defense. It happened to be LSU.
Yeah, I'm going to agree with this take.
Manziel was exciting as hell, and for awhile seemed like he could do anything. LSU's defense (John Chavis' scheme) exposed him. It wasn't a matter of WHO did it, it was what was done. Manziel didn't just look average, he looked bad... and suddenly every team with enough defensive talent (meaning an NFL team) had the blueprint to shut him down.
For comparison's sake, let's look at Miami's defense in the 90's against 2 offensive players, David Klingler at Houston and Marshall Faulk at San Diego State. Miami won both games. They pressured the hell out of Klingler and he looked awful, no longer the next great QB. They extremely out-talented SDSU, but Faulk ran for over 90 yds and scored. You knew right then, he was legit.

Manziel single-handedly elevated A&M’s level of play. These were some of Saban’s best defensive teams and yet he torched them like they were nothing.
They can't handle the truth. I was in the stadium when Aggies stunned bama in 2012.
Most electric college player I have ever watched in person, and that includes Archie Manning and a lot of other greats.

Johnny Manziel was real fun to watch
The way he could make people miss when trying to grab him was hilarious

The funnier part is how it pretty much led to aggy hiring Chavis only for him to have mailed it in halfway through 2014.

All these LSU, etc. dorks on here that always attempt to minimize the impact Johnny had on college football for a couple seasons are pathetic. He deserved criticism, sure, but people will straight up lie about his talent and give anyone else credit before him.
Their own All-American wasn't afraid to speak the truth about Johnny:

I dont disagree but

But manziel also had 3 all All American linemen and a HOF NFL receiver. He wasn’t playing with nobodies.
This is my point. Burrow was great, but he was also on a stacked team. He didn't will his team to wins at the Cam Newton level.
Fair point to Manziel's supporting cast, maybe Lamar Jackson is a better comp. for Cam's impact on the game.
