here has been speculation that the SEC will look to lock in three annual opponents for each SEC team once the conference expands.
Fisher appears to have confirmed the rumors this Thursday afternoon.
He said that Texas, LSU and Mississippi State are the three annual opponents being discussed for the Aggies.
"Jimbo Fisher may have just broken some news. He said Texas, LSU & Mississippi State are the 3 teams Texas A&M has been mentioned to play annually if the SEC decides to go with 3 permanent opponents in conference play. He added he would like to play Arkansas annually," wrote SEC Mike.
This is good news for SEC fans.
If it happens, it ensures rivalries remain in-tact on a yearly basis. And as we all know, keeping as many college football traditions alive is essential to the sport's well-being.
Hopefully other conferences take not. Per usual, the SEC is ahead of the pack.

I'd be cool with this.
I want LSU to have A&M, Florida, and Arkansas as their three permanent games.

Would make sense why Sankey mentioned Arkansas playing Texas and OU.
Would also make sense why Pittman mentioned Texas and OU then tossed in Mizzou
I’d rather play Texas, OM and LSU every year

I would trade Mississippi state for Arkansas, but I like it with the dogs too, better than getting stuck in a Big 12 bracket with ou, tu, mizzou I guess

Pittman did as well when he answered a question about old rivalries. Said OU, UT and Missouri would be a nice circuit. Not good. Do not want.

Hogs make more sense than State

Probably MS State for balance. Florida should play LSU, Georgia, and someone like UK, SC or Vandy

Give me A&M, Ole Miss, and BAMA.

It seems like Jimbo mentioned Texas, LSU then Arkansas 3rd almost like two are constant and one moves around.
With Pittman mentioning Texas and OU first I think those will be out two. OU will be the closest school to the University

As long as we keep the DSOR and cocktail party annually I’m happy.

Agree. Texas, LSU, and Arky would be perfect. But i also get you can't have everything you want, and this line up is 1000x better than being stuck in an old Big 12 pod with Texas, Oklahoma, and Missouri. That would have sucked all the excitement out of being in the SEC for us. All things considered, I'll be pretty happy keeping LSU and MSU, and it sounds like we'll still play Arky ever couple years in rotation anyway.

Agreed, and I don't think it should be forced to 3, if some teams just want to keep two intact. More rotation overall if some teams just keep 2 annuals. For most (not all) teams, that 3rd annual would be of the fake manufactured rivalry nature which we don't want nor need.

That would throw off the rotation schedule for the whole conference. However many permenent games they settle on, it will have to be universal across the board.

Vandy

why wouldn't it be MSu? Seems like that'd be a stone cold lock

A&M is like watching paint dry. They want LSU to be their rival oh so bad. Give me 3 of: Arkansas, Ole Miss, Florida, Bama, & Auburn ... All of those matchups are much more entertaining and "SEC-like." + no one wants nagging aggie fans around killing the gameday vibe

I could see SC getting Kentucky, Missouri, and Vanderbilt.
