He can certainly use that oil money and pay players to come to college station, but boy is all that talent gonna be wasted. Looking forward to the transfer portal, Kelly fixin to eat.

I think he is a great recruiter but his quarterback development, offensive approach, and playcalling is lacking.

I didn't watch Aggie much this year but I'd directly attribute the LSU loss to his playcalling.

Not true about quarterback development. He developed Jamarcus Russell and Jamie’s Winston into great nfl qbs

I think he can coach, but so many of these offensive minded guys are so stubborn about their play calling and given his contract and recruiting success--- I don't see anyone who is willing to push him on that.

If he gets the right quarterback they will be a scary team, but I felt that last year there were times he just refused to adjust to the limitations of the replacement qb, especially when they had some real studs at RB.

So basically he’s a bad coach.

Do you think Kirby, Dabo and Saban are masterminds?

They are the best recruiters. That’s what college football is. You bring in the best players, develop them as much as you can, and create a winning culture. You then go try to win football games. In college football the players win, period. If you put Sean McVay as head coach of a mediocre roster he would get steam rolled in a playoff game just like Cincinnati and Michigan.

I believe Kirby and Saban run their own defenses for the most part and both are excellent defensive minds.

Dabo is a CEO type like you're alluding to.

Jimbo thinks he's still an elite offensive playcaller and quarterback whisperer.

I just upvoted Stephen. I think the world is about to end.

The culture he’s created is quitting. He quit the Ole miss game in 2020 and this bowl game. He quit FSU and pulled a Lincoln Riley before Riley was a thing

Their defenses have far better players than 95% of teams they face.

Well let's see. He's been a HC for 12 years and was mentored by both Nick Saban and Bobby Bowden prior to that. Here is what he has done:

117-37 Overall record
8-2 Bowl Record
1 NC
3 Conference Championships
Additional Playoff Appearance
7 NYD Bowl games
Exceptional Recruiter with very few classes outside the Top 10

I mean you can certainly criticize him and say there are better coaches but if Jimbo "can't coach" then how many current coaches can? Or do accomplishments and track record not matter?

You can also argue that he was at his best with Winston and having a transcendent talent but since he is an exceptional recruiter (who found Winston as well) that really doesn't make sense. He's going to have exceptional talent for the near future so I'm not sure I get the point. Recruiting is a huge part of coaching in CFB.

Texas A&M had far better players than most of the teams they faced this season, excluding Alabama.

Still took four losses and could've easily lost to Colorado.
