Brandon Allen was so bad under Chaney that someone set his truck on fire. True story.

This is true. Y’all gotta get some bodies on the o-line, too.

Huh? Pittman wasn't on the UT team in 2012? His bio said he was
Yes but Chaney had been there for three years before Pittman arrived. Pittman gets a lot of undue credit for a line he only worked a season on -- those guys were heading into their third year and were already exceptionally talented when he showed up. They played as freshmen so they were rough their first season and people tended forget there was a progression in between. Pittman has become a bit of a legend and a lot of it is well deserved but I think it's overstated.

Got 2 5* tackles coming in, and 3 4* interior OL . It's a start.

Yeah it was pretty screwed up. Some folks take this way too serious.

You know what, we have had incredibly shitty offenses the last 2 years, he's a dramatic improvement.
Fair enough. Its just incredibly underwhelming giving the glacial pace of your OC search. the fact that kirby let him slip to a division rival says alot

You know who was an incredibly underwhelming hire? A guy from Michigan overseeing their Olympic sports teams. He was a washed up 'pool boy' as our fans called him who'd once OC'd Michigan to Natty back in the old days but why then was he working as a pool man?
His name was Mike DeBord and he oversaw an even more prolific offense than 2012. You might recall the Dobbs-nail boot?

And most Arkansas fans think it is totally the other way around. I don't think Chaney is bad but his best years are with Pittman. I have been through all these discussions before when UGA hired him. IMO Chaney is an average OC but can have plenty of success with elite talent. I think Tennessee could have done better. That all changes though if you can pair him with Pittman.

Well you can't have a good offense without a good OL. If I didn't believe in the results Friend has produced elsewhere I'd be worried about not grabbing Pittman. Chaney has been able to do good things at Tennessee without him but I understand where you're coming from.

Friend didn't have the best results at UGA. He was known as a good recruiter. But the compliments ended there.
I know he is young, and coaches can learn/improve. And I hope that happens for Friend. But it didn't happen in Athens.

Having said all of this, I do agree that he does change a little bit depending on the HC. Although some would argue it wasn't enough while he was at Arkansas, Bert was for sure in his ears at points.

I think Bert wanted to run a total power style that Chaney wasn't quite used to. I can definitely see how they'd clash, especially after coming from Tennessee where Bray and company might as well have been air raid with all the passing we were doing (we had no RB).

Bert was an idiot and never adjusted to the speed of tSEC, even though he fricked Botch Jones in Knoxvegas.

I can’t believe it took Jeremy Pruitt 6 weeks to hire Jim Chaney... about as unimaginative, mediocre a hire as he could make.

UT can hang up recruiting stud tight ends. Chaney doesn’t believe in throwing to them.

Vol fans were laughing when we hired him. Now he's the second coming.

Pretty sure Mychal Rivera is doing ok after his time under Chaney at UT.

I agree, but as odd as it may seem, there's a rumor saying that Bert, Chaney and Pittman will all coach together again, soon. Don't ask for details, because I don't have any and the very idea seems unthinkable to me.

I like Chaney, think he could be successful at UT without Pittman, but what has he done in the last 15 years to make UT fans think he’ll have success without Pittman?
