Ha, Not likely
The rumor was Chaney and Tee. Neither were likely but the most unlikely one just happened.

Better hope that Bama was smart enough to add the "no SEC" clause. Otherwise, it might not be up to you. Arkansas had it in writing.

This is great news. Not a big fan of big Jim.

Discontinue the football program and let it go fallow for a few years. It can't be worse then unleashing this upon your team.

They will spin this and I don't blame them but 90% of them have made fun of him over the years

The only criticism we had was that he was too pass happy. He put up big numbers under both Kiffin and Dooley.

Eh, maybe you but that is not the story for alot of posters. We know because it was used against us when Arkansas hired him. I don't think he is as bad as some others but he has his issues. Pairing him with Pittman isn't a bad idea.

UT is using the "devil you know" strategy to rationalize this hire.

Congrats to vols. You were right. Pruitt is a smart man and Kirby Dumb is not. On the plus side, Georgia fans will appreciate Mark Richt in a few years.

I know a lot of UGA fans wanted him gone. I hope we go with someone who’s hungry, fiery, and innovative rather than a proven retread hire.
Also, per insiders Pittman is staying, FWIW

I mean:
At UT:
quote:
The Vols recorded one of their best ever seasons statistically on offense with Chaney calling the shots in 2012, when Tennessee featured Tyler Bray at quarterback, Cordarrelle Patterson and Justin Hunter at wide receiver, Mychal Rivera at tight end and three future NFL players on the offensive line. Tennessee averaged 36 points per game in 2012, a season Chaney completed with a win against Kentucky as the interim coach after Dooley’s firing.
At UGA:
quote:
Georgia averaged 35 points and 435 yards per game and finishing in the top 20 in scoring in 2017, and the Bulldogs averaged 30 more yards per game and finished second behind Alabama with a 38-point per-game scoring average this season.
The Bulldogs were 14th nationally in scoring and 18th nationally in total offense while ranking 16th in rushing and fourth nationally in pass efficiency.
Chaney’s offenses in Athens have been impressively balanced. This season the Bulldogs led the SEC in rushing at 238 yards per game and also averaged 226 passing yards per game. Georgia also led the conference in rushing in 2017, and quarterback Jake Fromm saw his passer rating jump by 11 points from his freshman season to his sophomore campaign in 2018.
At Arkansas and Pitt he didn't do as well but he put both Brandon Allen and Nathan Peterman in the NFL. I don't expect a 2012 type offense given our OL but we know he can produce an offense and we have the skills players if we ever get our OL fixed. He was also the key to Crompton's turnaround under Kiffin.

Chaney was big when he last coached at UT, but holy crap...
Has UGA been paying him in butter?

Vol fans told us and UGA fans how terrible Chaney was. Now he’s back.
