He got away with more than a few 50/50 jump balls against Liberty. Those are going to be picks if he tries that same stuff Saturday. I watched some of their game and I wasn't terribly impressed with this guy. He sure is cocky af tho. We are really going to see just how good this Tennessee DL is this weekend imo

Yea - he looked really raw. He'll make some mistakes Saturday for sure.

I'm not worried about their offense. Our defense is gonna be fine.

THIS! Bud Foster is a helluva coach, and VT is always talented and fast on Def. he will have a scheme ready that make life hell for your offense.

I actually think much of the reason UT and VT had struggles week one is that they probably dedicated a lot of fall camp to prepping for this game, and the players were looking ahead.

what the hell is up with football programs in the state of Virginia? It's not like that state is devoid of football talent

I've wondered this ever since I lived there about 5 years ago. Charlottesville is an awesome, awesome college town and VT fans are some of the best around. I've never understood how UVA and VT don't get the majority of big time recruits in Virginia Beach area

Mike London killed both UVA and VT. He recruited enough good players to kill VT's talent level but couldn't coach well enough to actually win with those players.

Richmond and JMU are usually good for their level (FCS).

I lived in Hampton Roads for about 6 years, there is a HUGE SEC presence there. Basically, UVA and Tech are playing from behind in the most talent rich area of the state. And the rare talent that comes from the hills, usually is trying to get the frick out of there.

Tennessee ran a variation of 5 plays against App St.

The playbook will open up and the boys are fired up after too many mistakes last week.

Do the new plays call for blocking the defensive line?

Their burner WR Ford is VT's big play go to guy on offense and Evans will be looking his way first on every play.

If I'm Bob Shoop, I would have Sutton follow him around wherever he goes and make sure there's a safety over the top. Their other skill players do not scare me nor does their running game. Lock down Ford and getting Evans flustered with our speed and edge rushers should be priorities 1,2 and 3 imo.

Agree totally. Their run game is nonexistent, and Evans looked a lot more thumper runner than electric track star runner. Safety over the top with Ford and tell Barnett and Co. they gotta take care of the QB themselves.

see therein lies the question. Why is that? If I were a kid from Virginia, I'd kill for the opportunity to go to school like UVA.

Yea......that isn't the way 4 and 5 star kids in the Tidewater think, though.

Most kids in general do want to go to UVA. Just not the football-playing ones.

George Welsh, Al Groh, and Mike London all got players to UVA. Welsh especially was very successful in the 90s.

There are a lot of factors at play, but UVA's program hasn't been run competently for a long time. The Ronald Curry/Michael Vick deal was also damaging for UVA, perception-wise.

There's a simple answer, $$$, HS Football in Hampton Roads is corrupt as shite, and a lot of the coaches push their players to SEC schools.

Beamer was never willing to play that game, and UVA has been dogshit for like 30 years. Plus, have you ever been to Blacksburg? It's lame as frick for a college town, I don't know how Beamer ever recruited there.

That's not exactly true. Beamer's best teams were built on dudes from Hampton Roads and Richmond. VT just hasn't gotten them in the past 5-6 years.

It's also, how do I put this, not very appealing to the kids that generally come from Virginia Beach.............
