Two things can be true:

1. It is a bitch move to stick a phone in a players face and block his path when he is trying to get off the field before it is completely overrun with fans. Especially under the assumption that he’s not supposed to hit you

2. Burton should just have to take it and striking her is unacceptable. It sucks but you are under a much bigger microscope than a drunk college girl. You represent more than just yourself and have more to lose

He's a good young man who was simply hurrying to get to a vespers church service. He's been working hard to bring up his grades...and he loves his grandmother very much.

UT at fault not the refs. If she comes forward it will be on the university for allowing the fans on the field which is a violation. Also according to a report the other day UT had already ordered goal post replacement as they expected the fans to rush the field. They were anticipating and allowing it to happen. The liability is at the university for not providing enough security and knowing it was going to happen without trying to prevent it.

If Burton did as presumed and she comes forward he should be charged if evidence is enough to charges and kicked off the team. But UT should be held liable as a contributor and the family could sue them.

Ah. From the stands or what? I’ve yet to see that and don’t really care to. The first incident is enough for a suspension. It kinda looks like she’s taunting him but it’s equally likely that she was just a deer in the headlights

It doesn’t look like she is taunting him

For fricks sake it just looks like she is moving out of the way and he hits her. We are about 3 posts away from Bama fans saying “she called him the n-word”

She was almost passed him and cut back into his path. But like I’ve said already

Again, it sounds like you Bammers are trying to mitigate the consequences of his actions.

Two things can be true:

1. People have freedom of speech and freedom of movement. The student never made physical contact with Burton. Don’t like what she’s saying for doing? Sucks for you.

2. It is illegal to commit battery no matter the alleged (and yet to be proven) “taunting.”

Irrelevant side note - unless you have evidence to the contrary, we will presumptively assume that she was not taunting him, as that appears to be speculation emanating only from Bama posters.

Again I’ve already said he should be suspended. Multiple games in fact

That’s pretty dumb. The only evidence that could possibly come is what Burton says and nobody will believe him. The taunting is irrelevant to me to terms of Burton’s suspension btw.

Burton can claim whatever he wants and people will assess his credibility as they would any other criminal defendant.

It’s not dumb, it’s the law. We don’t ascribe any unproven behavior to someone unless there’s evidence of it. Burton’s account may or may not be credible. At this point, it doesn’t seem that anyone besides Bammers view his allegation as credible.

Again, it’s irrelevant as it does nothing to exculpate him.

With the way the game was called, I guess he just assumed you could hit folks in the head with impunity on that field.
