Jeff Long has been the most confident person on the hill and hasn't faltered yet in handling the situation since the beginning of the season. He's managing this very well although you can tell this was not was expected....I'm sure the incoming coach didn't expect it either (guessing).
I want JLS fired...Although I know that hurts more than helps.

Is Charlie Strong the number one target for after this season?
I don't understand the complaining about John L Smith. It's not like Arkansas has anything to play for, so why try to replace a guy who pretty much already is an interim head coach?

I hope its Strong. Arky will be down for the count if its Strong.
Defense is 90% talent, 10% coaching while with offense its like 60/40. If your talent base is Ark- almost all offensive four stars- then you want an offensive guy. That has been proven to work.
I can't wait for Strong, and all these threads about him going into Texas (where he has no connections) or Florida (where the two big programs are top 15 right now) and stealing all the dline talent. Its gonna be flagship all over again!

Of course he backs the coach that he got to leave a school in spring to come coach for 10 months. How would it look to future head coaches if we fired JLS after leaving a HC position to come coach after 3 games.
Long is at least showing to future coaches that he will support them. This season is already over no reason to make future coaches even more hesitant about coming here.

Leaders have to make sound decisions that benefit their programs or companies for the long-term. A lot of time those decisions look bad in the short-term and they will catch major flak for doing so.
The Arkansas AD is playing this whole thing perfectly, but fans can't see this. Petrino left a major mess that was not going to be fixed this year and Long knew it.
This season was screwed for Arkansas the second Petrino wrecked his bike with his mistress on it. Long understood that. He hired a patsy to go into an unwinnable situation and take the major hits that were going to come his way by the fans and media.
In December, Long will make a very good hire and the Arkansas program will be back on track to be a good program. It will take a little bit of time, but in the long-term Long is doing the right thing.
Most people don't have the ability to understand that though.
