Leaders have to make sound decisions that benefit their programs or companies for the long-term. A lot of time those decisions look bad in the short-term and they will catch major flak for doing so.
The Arkansas AD is playing this whole thing perfectly, but fans can't see this. Petrino left a major mess that was not going to be fixed this year and Long knew it.
This season was screwed for Arkansas the second Petrino wrecked his bike with his mistress on it. Long understood that. He hired a patsy to go into an unwinnable situation and take the major hits that were going to come his way by the fans and media.
In December, Long will make a very good hire and the Arkansas program will be back on track to be a good program. It will take a little bit of time, but in the long-term Long is doing the right thing.
Most people don't have the ability to understand that though.

Not about this year. I've accepted that these coaches are puppets and Petrino was pulling strings. The motherfricker is that good and I will follow his coaching career going forward.
The coach that will be announced will be solid...I'll caveat that with JLS could frick it all up if he can't maintain the locker room.
There is too much at stake with this hire...

I'm the same way. I am numb to it at this point. Of course the right coach can do it in less than 3 seasons. Petrino got me excited the first season after that call against LSU in the last game and then we were a power in just his 3 rd year beating out both Bama and LSU in the SEC.

Wait so you're saying Long already has a coach in theory locked in to the job?
You're being serious or just speculating? I know Hawgeye has some legit connections but I didn't know another one of our posters did if you're being serious.

For right now...yes, you are correct. However, we are much more likely to surpass them than arky is...WIN a champ. of some sort then come back and try and ride the coat-tails of a team that just SLAMMED you at YOUR house 52 : ZIP...LOL at the pigs dumpster fire of 2012 !!!

hawgeye is the only one I believe. remember how much of a surprise hiring BP was? NOBODY knew jack shite. I have no reason to believe any different this time around.
when it comes to recruiting I DO know that a certain poster on here who claims to always be in the know doesn't know jack b/c he was wrong every friggn time. it's amusing

This is what I'm saying...At best its speculation in regards to proof to this board...Although I was told this waaay prior to the dumpster fire starting.
Jeff Long has been the most confident person on the hill and hasn't faltered yet in handling the situation since the beginning of the season. He's managing this very well although you can tell this was not was expected....I'm sure the incoming coach didn't expect it either (guessing).
I want JLS fired...Although I know that hurts more than helps.
You telling me "Big Money" is just sittin back lettin this train wreck continue if they weren't privy to what was out there...Doubtful.
Do I have "connections"...Well, I know one guy.
Guess we will see...

What else is he gonna say really? This is all damage control and nothing but damage control. Of course it's tailspun out of control but you still have to try to keep the program steady until we can announce the next coach.

Thanks for the explanation.
Hopefully losing doesn't screw anything up but JLS spoke to that exact question today and said he doesn't think it will.

We lost our head coach THIS summer DUMBASS, so we'll never know, you still have your head coach and your still SEVERAL levels below Alabama... LOLOL

The only reason i point it out is b/c you've seem to have anointed yourself National Champions already, yet Bama is ahead of you in the polls.

NO...what's truly sick is bragging about a program, year after year I might add...which has WON next to NOTHING and then continually hiding behind the skirts of a team which ROUTINELY slams the pigs...the pigs are the true ADMIRALS of delusion and sinking FAST...couldn't happen to a more deserving bunch...LOL
