Saban wants control. It’s why he went back to college. Boss around 19 year olds fresh out of HS.

Some massive overcompensation by the swamp rats here. Guess that's what you do when Bama takes your manhood in football AND basketball. Digging up decades old heresay incidents.

And, again I feel like I need to explain this to you since you're not, you know, smart and reading is hard, but the OP didn't have to work hard to dig it up. The story from Jay Glazer came out TODAY.

Why would Culpepper wanna fight him, the fins took him.

The last time I remember Thomas being relevant was Boselli calling him to the other end of the field so the Jaguars could line up for another PAT.

Nick woulda kicked both of their asses.

Team doctors had doubts and Nick Saban (head coach AND de facto GM) decided to low ball Drew Brees. At the same time, the Saints increased their offer.

Can we stop with the idea that Nick Saban was overruled by the team doctors? He wanted to game his offer to Drew Brees (figuring the draw of Miami over New Orleans was enough to make up for the difference in the offer with New Orleans). He overplayed his hand; much like when he tried his "Coach Saban" schtick with professional players.

He's still a good coach/great recruiter; but he can screw up/make poor decisions sometimes.

It drives you crazy that at heart Saban is a Tiger and is vocal about his fond memories of his coaching at LSU (and even his desire to return). Perhaps he strives so hard to win against LSU so much because, analagously speaking, it's like a son trying to prove a point to his beloved, and somewhat estranged, father that he is in fact good enough to be called his son.
