Willis is a fine coach and recruiter, but I don't have much respect for someone who spurns their alma mater like that 2 weeks before signing day. I'm sure you two would feel the same if it was one of y'all's player/coach.
They wanted him to repay the money he got after getting fired the first time...

They also gave him a scholarship and a job making hundreds of thousands of dollars. He could of waited till after signing day.

Still no reason to try and force him to repay money from a different job. You fire him, you still have to fulfill obligations from his old contract when you rehire him later...

Funniest part of the Willis talking to Champ at UF behind Tubby's back is he did the same thing to Tubby that Tubby did to Ole Miss.

Willis could be a good fit as "DC" at UF since Champ already said he will be in charge of the D. That gives Willis the title and he can still learn on the job while his recruiting skills are put to use.

Bill Oliver. Did it twice. Coached at auburn in the 60's after playing at Alabama. Then came back to coach at Alabama for most of the 70's. Left, came back to Bama in the 90's. Then ended up at auburn in the late 90's again. Been there. Done that

Willis was working with Tubs as DC, the defense overall was Tubs Willis was working with him in a learning aspect. Willis coached the linebackers Tubs did most of the scheming and would explain it to Willis.

Willis is a solid recruiter but the last 2-3 years his recruiting tanked for a variety of reasons. I think he'll do well at UF overall but he won't be the DC. He will get some sort of a Co-DC title or something so he can go there but he won't come near the scheming for the defense, I know I wouldn't let him near it with training wheels on. He is good at what he does but you have to know his limitations, Will does so UF should be ok.

And we all know what a sterling reputation for honesty, integrity and loyalty that Bill Oliver has amongst the fans, administrators, and former coaches of both schools.

Willis is a decent LBs coach (who wouldn't be with Rolando McClain?). We had some pretty good defenses. His last year we got hit with a ton of injuries, but we weren't bad on defense.

Looks like he's a pretty bad DC, but one year is tough to judge someone on.

As for how he left AU, I don't blame him.... he should've waited till after NSD, but I doubt Saban would've kept the job open for that long... Willis was not going to coach LBs at Auburn under Chizik.
