Bama fans what do you think about Coker? He was a 3 star out of high school snd has been a backup every year in college. He was supposed to be the guy last year but couldn't best out Sims. Seems like his 3 star rating has been accurate so far

My opinion is Lane Kiffin made Blake Sims a Top 10 efficient passer in America and chances are he will make Coker serviceable as well.

If only we had BHarris or AJennings. They had good stars behind their names.

I think Sims, while talented in his own right, also won the job in part because of our OL issues. He had mobility that Coker could never dream of.

Hopefully will be like aj in 2011.

Not expecting him to be a hot shot qb that will sling it around the park. I'm expecting him to be like Matt Flynn in 2007.

Saban quarterbacks have never been expected to win games by themselves. Kiffin changed that philosophy this past year though. He is already better than Jennings though

Gonna be disappointed if he doesn't win the heisman

I believe Coker will be fine but wouldn't it be smarter to go with a younger guy and let him take the reigns like AJ? Or is it Coker then Barnett?

Harris outplayed Coker. Look at the stats...more TDs and yards

Did he just not try with Coker last year? I'm sure an extra year in the system will only help, but it's clearly easier said than done given the opportunity was there going into last season.

Like most Bama QBs, he won't be great, but what he does will be enough to allow the rest of the team succeed. I miss those game managers at LSU, honestly.

He was probably the best QB in the country last year, however, we thought we could win an SEC championship without him and keep him from declaring for the NFL early. It was a shrewd move, but it worked. Next year he will break every record every recorded.

Eta: This is our worst case scenario - best case, he gets a medical 5th year after we win the SEC with another scrub.

I honestly don't the angle of these defensive responses. He was supposedly the guy and unknown going into last year, so people inquired about him. He is supposedly the guy again and still relatively unknown. Is it hard to figure out why similar threads would be started this off season?

He showed up last year in an unfamiliar place with some quirky mechanics. On top of that Blake lit things on fire and had the entire team's full support because of the type of teammate he was.

Lest we forget Blake had a helluva year. It isn't like Coker got beat out by a guy who threw 8 TDs and 13 INTs.

Yea, it was clearly the right move to start Sims. I don't think Coker will produce quite like Sims did, but a bad Bama QB is pretty rare, so the difference in confidence level from last year to this year should be marginal.

More starts, too. Still debatable.
