@GoodmanESPN: Ben Howland has reached a verbal agreement to become the Mississippi State coach. He is in route to Starkville now.

Best hire they could've possibly made. Looking forward to those matchups. Will be interesting to see if he can keep Malik Newman instate.

Stricklin is an MSU graduate.

Well, he is an MSU alum and is married to Bailey Howell's daughter.

But he also hired Rick Ray. I'm not sold on him being a great AD. Good marketer though. Hopefully he has learned from his Rick Ray debacle. The way that went down was the complete opposite of how this one went down.

Meanwhile, Eric Hyman is totally cool with making the NIT once in 4 years, and couldn't be happier with the job Billy Kennedy has done.
