@GoodmanESPN: Ben Howland has reached a verbal agreement to become the Mississippi State coach. He is in route to Starkville now.

Ben Howland will bring a winner's mentality to the SEC. A good move by Miss. State Bulldogs.

Was about to post this. Good hire, if true

Should do much better than Rick Ray

Best hire they could've possibly made. Looking forward to those matchups. Will be interesting to see if he can keep Malik Newman instate.

Great hire. How is Scott Stricklin still the AD there?

They'll go back to beating us twice a year now. Good for you guys!

Well, he is an MSU alum and is married to Bailey Howell's daughter.
But he also hired Rick Ray. I'm not sold on him being a great AD. Good marketer though. Hopefully he has learned from his Rick Ray debacle. The way that went down was the complete opposite of how this one went down.

It appears we have our man. Now it's time to go get some players.

Meanwhile, Eric Hyman is totally cool with making the NIT once in 4 years, and couldn't be happier with the job Billy Kennedy has done.

Newman staying in-state just became much more likely.
