$8.95 mil to fire Malzahn and $10 million to Louisville to buy Petrino.... All that BEFORE paying Bobby $4-5 million per year.

The rest of his staff would be owed money too. I think Gus and staff come out close to $13M

Edit: $13,795,000

You're probably going to have to pay more than $5 million per year to get Petrino out of Louisville.

Why would anyone in the SEC want him.

Is Auburn really ready to sacrifice their soul for W's?

In an alternate Universe Jetgate was not revealed by the rag of a magazine and that hack Jay G. Tate (Rivals Owner)and Petrino came to Auburn. Would we have been better off from 2004 to 2015 with Bobby? Certainly more consistent, but would we have had 3 SEC titles, 2 undefeated titles, 2 BCS championship Appearances and 1 NC?

And the A.D.'s buyout is another $3,000,000. No way he stays too if they burn it down...

I'm assuming you mean would that period of time had been better and not that Bobby would have been there for that entire time. He was at a stage in his career where he was going to try the NFL if it came along.

As for current possibility of AU hiring Petrino, I think it is unlikely for two reasons:

1) The AU fan wish list for football coaching hires never matches the powers that be wish list for coaching hires, so AU likely ends up with someone Dye wants and knows

2) this assumes Petrino would leave what he has at Louisville where his path to conference title and playoffs is easier. I'm not so sure he'd do that.

Auburn is going to beat LSU this weekend and quiet some of the fire Gus talk.

Agree. Saban won't coach for ever and Petrino with auburn talent would be pretty scary.

I think this a key point. His goal is to win a NC. He can do that easier in Louisville now that they are in the ACC.

Not to mention the headache of overcoming the trustworthiness issue as it relates to Petrino.
