Heupel hates kicking field goals. All he had to do in regulation was get another first down and instead went for it all twice. Refused to take the certain FG in OT, twice. So, it's over.

Yeah....plays like that shouldn’t be decided by judgement calls

I watched the whole game and it was one of the worst officiated games of the year. Multiple pass interference calls on Tenn were wrong. That last play was a touchdown. His forward progress was never stopped. Even the expert agreed. Huepel should have took his team off the field after that last horrible call with a big f u to the refs

Somehow your phone autocorrected “the ref’s” to the word “your”. A bit strange but I’ve seen worse.

The refs could have just sent that up to review without the progress part and fixed the call.

Sorry not sorry.
If forward progress had stopped the whistle would have been blown Bama tard!!! I don't like Tennessee but that was bullschit!!

No. It wasn’t. They called his progress early. He was in, laying on top of a Purdue player.

When his teammate is having to pull him backwards by the shoulder pads towards the end zone, by definition his forward progress is stopped. That was the right call there.

To play that game , only to have the refs give it to Purdue is infuriating and I am not a tennesseee fan

Two years ago, maybe. Since they made the push/pull legal, they have let plays go on waaayyy longer. On a 4th down, on the goal line in OT, keep your fricking whistle in your pocket until the runner is down or he scores.

You are correct, Sir.

The Volunteers’ home announcers, err… I mean ESPN announcers said the explanation was the ref had stepped out onto the field to determine the play was dead. The whistle was irrelevant. How did UT allow an undermanned Purdue to hang around anyways?

There’s actually no debate necessary. That was a TD.
Was actually one of the easier plays I’ve ever seen to be able to review and get right, yet they still got it wrong.
