The foothills of the Appilchians and sugar sand beaches that are overrun with lsu flags in the summer. Gotta love it. As a resident of the Birmingham metro area, I can be in the smokies, gulf shores/the emeralds coast of Florida, Atlanta, New Orleans, and Nashville all under a 5.5 hour drive. Maybe not the epicenter of cultural greatness but I can be anywhere and do just about anything in my backyard.

You do realize that most of the fun things in "your back yard" require leaving Alabama?

ps Is speling not taught in Alabama schools?

And everyone would rather live anywhere but College Station. Place is a dump with a bunch of chain store garbage littered around. Food is shite as well.

Imagine sharing a State with Alabama AND Auburn fans

You can't imagine how much most Alabamians feel the same way about coonasses coming into the state to live. You people, for the most part, are loud and obnoxious, filthy (both physically and verbally), and bring nothing of value to the state. You're a bunch of binge-drinking drunks that make any place where you congregate unpleasant and rowdy.
We should strike a deal with you swamp animals. Stay the frick out of Alabama, and we'll do the same with your mudhole.

So what. You have to leave Louisiana to do anything other than New Orleans (which is cool and unique for a weekend or short visits). Other than really good inshore/deep sea fishing and New Orleans, there's actually less to do in Louisiana than Alabama. Literally every other outdoor activity (deer and turkey hunting, bass/bream fishing, hiking, camping, rock climbing, recreational lakes for boating/swimming, beaches, golf courses, even snow skiing, and proximity to Atlanta and Nashville (both within 3 hours of B'ham/Tuscaloosa) and only 5 hours from the mountains of East TN/Western NC is superior in Alabama as compared to Louisiana. I happen to love the NOLA area and inshore fishing but those are literally the ONLY two things better about Louisiana than Alabama.

It's actually pretty nice. Even as a Hog fan.

I DO live near the beach though, so there's that.

As compared to Louisiana, where the roads are falling apart, the government's broke, prisons are the primary industry, and the football team is led by a perennial 7-5/8-4 shrimp boat captain? Aubs are pretty bad, but not that bad.

No more so than eating water roaches out of the ditch in the front yard and thinking it's 5 star cuisine.

I have plenty of fun in Alabama but it’s all relative. For somebody like you that hasn’t traveled much, a ghastly 5 hour drive across a state line might be too much to ask for. The world is my playground, what can I say.

You know what they say about Texas.

Only Steers and Queers come out of Texas, and I haven't seen any Steer coming out of Texas.
