Unfortunately there's no place to seriously discuss the CFP rankings.

This thread seems to have morphed into that very thing. I'm here for it... OP trolling aside.

Looking at the top 5, at least red won something yesterday.

And the red and blue of Ole Miss was the hope for unity.

Because the B1G has stopped scheduling them.

And ND traditionally played an SEC team most years going way back.

They always liked having one midling SEC team mixed into their schedule.

One thing this place WILL NEVER agree on is how rankings are viewed. Are they viewed as such when the games were played or as they are now?

Meaning, if you look at bama, UK and Tx.... Tx beat a #1, #7 and #14. UK beat #9 and #10, but lost to a #12, while bama lost to a #2, #14 and beat a #16.

But since people change their opinions on this topic to whatever helps them more, it's a difficult conversation. Proof... bama view a win over UK as a with over top 10 team, but when the game was played UK wasn't ranked. Examples are across the SEC and yes, the same could be said for my Tigers because we lost to an unranked UK team.

And looking at it more closely, Tx should be ranked ahead of UGA because UGA beat a #6 and #17 but lost to an unranked, and bad AU team.

But hey, not my monkey... not my circus as they say.

They have to be careful with Notre Dame because they could have no quality wins but if they are ranked in the top 12, they get in because of that new stupid rule that only applies to Notre Dame.

Which is why CFP punished them for their bad schedule. If they lose to Miami they're out. They will drop them like a rock then keep 3-loss SEC and B1G teams ahead of them

Well, Texas has 2 losses and they are two bad losses against Oklahoma and Florida.

Yes, and that same FL team beat OM. Just because FL was ranked at that time, does that change the fact that they're a bad team? And that Tx team w/two bad losses beat OM.

Indiana is really the outlier.

They appeared to use SoS except for Indiana.

Who knows why that is.

Look at Utah's SoS. #83 and their ranked #3

Utah has a garbage schedule yet they are highly ranked, this committee is a joke ,the top 6 SEC teams would beat them.

I agree but they are undefeated and the committee just ignores SoS if you can stay undefeated.

Indiana should be behind all 1 loss teams really.

You won the LSU game.

Your losses were on the road.

Makes some sense.

They have played nobody, and have 0 ranked wins. they continuously spit at the notion of playing a real schedule and have for years, only reason why people pay attention now is because they are a better program.

In the past decade the only P4 program they have played is Louisille at home and a home and home with Virginia. F Indiana

UCLA is undefeated and out of the top 5, and UCLA actually has a better SOS than Utah

Everytime someone names a metric for ranking a team or group of teams there is another team or group of teams that contradict it

Their is no method to the madness as much as people try to search for one

Being undefeated shouldn't keep SoS from being implemented. If anything, it should be used even more. The combined record of their opponents is 31-34 with only two teams with a winning record. Everyone else has a losing record. They've played TWO teams with a winning record. That shouldn't matter just because they're undefeated? Hell, that's the reason they're undefeated.

Has it occurred to anyone that with the 24 team playoff the ND rule goes away. That this is literally the only year it could come into play. That by placing ND at 11 they are insuring that moa will NOT be invoked, one way or the other, thus avoiding a nasty little footnote in football history.

Yes, but Indiana has also proven that you can have zero quality wins and only play creampuffs out of conference and be ranked in the top 5.

Took an absolute choke job from Minnesota to blow that game last weekend

Indiana is not good this season
