This is college football …. the tv contracts must be protected at all costs …. even to the cost of the sport’s integrity

Followed by the shite show that was the Sherrone Moore scandal. If you take away the championship that they cheated in order to win, then their program has been a pretty big shite show.

I agree all of the teams are wheeling and dealing behind the scenes. But, that particular season was just a terrible look. Harbaugh is suspended for some weird recruiting infraction, then they have an incredible undefeated, evidence of video sign stealing comes out, Harbaugh gets suspended AGAIN because they have proof the team directly cheated, He comes back and coaches the post season and they win a national championship, then he retires into the sunset and the ncaa gives him a bogus suspension that he'll never have to face.

Wait until you look up their decades long former football team doctor.

Do a google search and compare the coverage MSU got over a gymnastics coach (who was originally a UM guy ironically) to the coverage of Dr. Anderson.

Cause cheating just doesn't matter these days. My goodness, we just watched the baseball commissioner tell MLB fans that the systemic cheating that Houston was caught doing during the playoffs and series really didn't matter. Finally deflecting the indignation by telling anyone who would listen that the World Series trophy was just a "hunk of metal." The reason cheating didn't matter was that Rob Manfred was inherently corrupt himself. So instead of bringing the gates of hell for retribution, he enabled the entire cheating scandal. I submit the greatest cheat of all: Rob Manfred. MLB promptly renewed his contract as Commish, cause that's what owners with the same value system do.

So goes MLB and so goes college football. Harbaugh was a cheat and got caught. And just like the Astros, he was promptly slapped on the wrist and told, Now, don't be naughty and do that again. What you don't stop, you enable.

weird recruiting infraction

The infraction was having recruits (repeatedly) on campus for visits during Covid. Nothing weird about it just blatent/open cheating. Originally caught bc multi millionaire Harbaugh turned in a meal receipt from one of the visits to get reimbursed.

I believe Arizona State got caught for similar infractions.

None of this holds a candle to basketball at any level. No team sport is easier to rig, no officiating more amenable to corruption. It is, and they are.

I was inferring that if they actually got penalized for something, there was likely something much worse going on.

That's as bad as cheating gets imo and is a huge black eye for the sport.

LOL schools did this all the time 30 years ago and high school and middle school coaches still do this

what triggers people in this regard is that it's Michigan and the arrogance with which Michigan people carry themselves; that he also carried it out like a military operation attracted more attention to the story

get over it, if you were good enough, you would've beaten them regardless of whether they knew your signs

Alabama had a 10-point lead on Michigan late in the 4th quarter of the semifinals and blew the game, no one wants to hear your cheating excuses
