NBC and SNL would beg to differ.

Ole Miss made fun of that tradition clearly by making this travesty of a mascot. There should be a petition started or gofundme started to get rid of this thing.

NBC originated the land shark on SNL in the 1970's

Oliver Stone gave us "fins up" in the movie Any Given Sunday in 1999
(pre production timeframes mean 1998 was the initial dates, hence 20 years old)

This is almost as bad as NBC spending 5 to 10 million dollars for their red and blue N when they had copied the Bank of Nebraska.

How did they go from Rebels to a bear and now a shark. When a school succumbs to political correctness this is where you end up, or worse. Sad.

That might be the worst mascot I’ve ever seen.
Doesn't even look like a shark.

More like a TRex-Shark hybrid.

Never seen a shark with a dorsal fin attached to the back of its head either.

Who designed and is responsible for that mess?

Legendary bad. (Even worse than the original "Toonces" LSU logo)

They could've come up with a really cool looking Great White Shark looking head.

I like the 3 new logos they did. I also like the idea of the landshark. It's original and started organically like any good tradition.

The real problem I see with it is two things:

1. Ole Miss has had one year that their defense could be considered good every other year it is terrible and not worthy of any cool nickname like LandShark!

2. Landshark was NOT invented by them and was a freaking Saturday Night Live skit back in the 70's.

That's really really bad Ole Miss. Why not drop it altogether and get a dog or something?

When the school was founded on a racist platform and benefitted for a 150 years by keeping those same core values then what we see today is called Karma my friend.

Had to be part of the NCAA sanctions from last year. Honestly I can’t think of anything the NCAA could have done worse than this. SMU may have got the death penalty, but this is the “burn your institution in he11 for eternity penalty.”
