Gotta think that part of the reasons those defenses are ranked so low is that they played Alabama and got torched. Obviously, Tua had a part in that. Take away Alabama, and what is the average defensive rank of the same teams?

Alabama has never had a good QB or RB - they just have the greatest offensive lines and wide receivers in college football history. Every single year.
It's pretty impressive IMHO.

Is Tua the most overrated QB since Stefan LeFors? by vicemanquote:A Bama fan yesterday said Calvin Ridley wouldn't play for y'all this year. So let's go with the WR thing If only there was a stat that took into account everything about playing qb, from rushing yards and strength of the opponents defenses quote:College Football Total QBR - 2018 Season Leaders TOTAL QBR: Adjusted Total Quarterback Rating, which values the quarterback on all play types on a 0-100 scale adjusted for the strength of opposing defenses faced. RK PLAYER PASS EPA RUN EPA SACK EPA PEN EPA TOTAL EPA ACT PLAYS RAW QBR TOTAL QBR 1 Tua Tagovailoa, ALA 30.5 6.6 -1.2 0.0 35.9 114 98.0 97.8 20 Joe Burrow, LSU 16.2 2.5 -3.4 5.4 20.6 192 70.9 75.
This is one of those stat collections that can actually go both ways........ If allowed to play more than 2 or 3 quarters would be way ahead of Joe in passing yards and TD's and probably every other stat as well. The downside is that if Tua was allowed to play more than 2 or 3 quarters he would also see his completion rate drop and the possibility of an interception or fumble goes up.
That's really been Joe's bright spot to date. Not turning the ball over but twice.

If you were a girl I'd say this was your #metoo moment.

Tua has 1,161 yards this year. Not bad.
But don't let that number fool you.
Of those 1,161 yards, 637 yards have come on WR YAC. That's right around 54.8% of his passing yards coming on WR YAC.
This leaves 45.2% of his yards coming from his passing ability. This is 102nd among FBS QBs. Not good.
Couple this with the fact that the average defense he's faced through 5 games is 94th according to ESPN's FPI defensive efficiency rankings.
Good WRs. Game manager at QB.
For those wondering: Joe Burrow has passed for 1,023 yards with 395 coming off of WR YAC. (38.6% from WR YAC)
Sorry that you have shitty receivers to go along with your average QB.

We won't know til he starts against a defense with a pulse. If he looks average against them then he is very overrated by the Bama fans hype.
UGA, in the national title game, had a pretty decent defense

Not everyone can struggle with Arky man... I’m sure it’s tough being fagy and dominating the competition so often makes seasons boring I’m sure.... oh wait

You'll notice my response was to Rayburn. It's easy to make him look foolish. In fact, he does it all by himself.

Bama has 4 1st round caliber receivers.

Geez...so now we're penalizing Tua for his accuracy and hitting his receivers in stride?
What's next?
What's next?

The thing is you are so dumb you think it's a bad thing that tua is hitting all his receivers perfectly in stride, throwing them open so that the defender had no chance to make a play on the ball or make an immediate tackle and the receiver never has to break stride. It's pretty clear you either have not watched him play or know nothing about football, or both.
Ding, Ding, Ding !

Tua will never be Blake Sims or Jacob Coker. So he will have a career as a manager at Speedway and not simply a cash register jockey.

Tua has ammassed his yardage playing two qtrs a game basically. Burrow has not come out of any game.
you want to count yards after catch as a negative against Tua but you want to count drops and throwaways from Burrow as a positive.
If you think Burrow is in the same stratosphere as Tua then you don't know football. Ohio State would have NEVER held the door open for Tua to leave.
