Bama had as much of a chance to win that game as Tenn did.

I never thought I would say it but this Vol team is with out a doubt better than the 2019 LSU team. And that LSU team was the conscious GOAT.
Don’t believe me ask Willy.

That LSU also had a close battle with #25 Texas which was basically their early out of conference Pitt game, beat Bama by 6 points and scraped by Auburn by only 3 points.

This Tennessee team is definitely capable of winning had they played.

Sure. I think we should have always have a new "best team of all-time" each season. Why not?

Ask Oklahoma who is the best of all time. Then ask other top ten teams they beat that year.

I’d put 2022 Tennessee below 2020 Bama and neck-and-neck with 2019 LSU. Maybe a little below 2019 LSU.

But not by much.

Not even the greatest of all time in the state...'99 U of the South ( 1899) would wreck UT

They have to win the SECCG and the Natty while going undefeated. Also need to beat the preseason Top 4, 7 Top 10, and produce an absurd number of NFL draft picks.

Oh, a Heisman wouldn't hurt either.

But Tennessee hung Fiddy2 on Bama plus practically tried to give the game to Bama. lol

You won by three. That's not embarrassing. BAMA scored 49 on UT and Bryce went for 455. Also, Alabama didn't try to give the game to UT? Are you forgetting the penalties? Or the punt return blunder? Or the missed FG? I mean, we can what if all day, but there's no point because UT won by 3.

I've never seen a team so dominating in college.

We all see that shiny hook but I'll bite and say that they are not even in the ballpark yet. One good receiver that played out of his mind against Bama and a really good QB does not make the GOAT. If they produce a 1,000 yard rusher, two receivers over 1300 yards, a QB with 60 TD's and beat 7 ranked teams and 4 ranked in the top 5... You will only be equal.

Joe Burrow and that offense would have hung 50 on that Tennessee defense.

As opposed to the 49 bama hung on them?

You talking about bullshite Preseason polls?

The only one that matters is at the end when you actually see what teams produced.

Cedric Tilman is the best WR in the nation when healthy and we will have him back by the UGA if not Kentucky game.

We have 3 future starting NFL WRs running around out there with Tilman, Hyatt and McCoy. Keaton will be really good as well.

This is obviously a troll thread, which makes it terrible out the gate. But what you’re suggesting with it is almost as terrible. Tennessee isn’t close to the best team in CFB history, but they are damn good.

‘19 LSU would roll them—they would would probably drop 50-60 on that defense and had enough pros and Dave Aranda to get a handful of stops or turnovers. But no serious person thinks ‘22 UT is better or as good as ‘19 LSU.
BUT, I do see the comparison on offense being made with having an older, mature, grad school transfer, Heisman-contending QB in his 2nd season in a high powered offensive system tailored perfectly to his skill set with a great play-caller dialing them up.

Cedric Tilman is a good WR but the best in the nation is a stretch. Bru McCoy may be a 4th round pick at best and I wouldnt bank on him being some NFL game changer. Hyatt has to show up for more than just a game or two but he is on his way for sure.

Being as this argument is about the best team and you've chosen to argue on behalf of your WR's, Jamarr Chase had 1780 yards and 20 td's alone. Tilman barely cracked 1000 in a full season with 12 tds. We are comparing apples to oranges here. I didnt even bring up JJets stats. Tenn is not in the ballpark, but the season isnt over and they do have a chance but they will have to continue to ascend in a big way.
