But Drew Sanders might have something to say about that by the start of November.

this devolved into comparing one player to two.

And they play different roles for their teams. Kirby doesn’t run the same d as bama.

No shite. Alabama hasn’t run that defense in years now.

On a website that marks things equally in all games they see (PFF):

- Will Anderson - 129 pass rushes, 24 Total QB Pressures (18.6%) (17 hurries, 4 QB Hits, 3 sacks)
- Nolan Smith/Adam Anderson - 109 pass rushes, 15 Total QB Pressures (13.8%) (5 hurries, 3 QB Hits, 7 Sacks)

This is what I was waiting for. An awful lot of posturing "my guy" vs "your guy" in this thread without any context without my dude SoG.

As of *right now*, Will Anderson certainly has some of the best *stats* of any OLB in the country. By any objective measure he is one of the best OLB in the country.

But neither Nolan Smith nor Adam Anderson have been used to the extent that Will has at this point. I'd hold off on crowning anyone "best X in the country" by week 5 of the season.

In hindsight, it certainly seems like Will was a better option than Mekhail Sherman, but from a standpoint of when we need him to contribute, having Will on the roster *right now* likely would have led to at least one of Will, Nolan, and Adam transferring (see: Johnson, Jermaine), even if we had been able to land his commitment.

Great pickup for Bama, but the "Kirby is an idiot for not recruiting him harder" crowd doesn't seem to understand the big picture (or they're trolling every bit as much as they accuse the other poster in this thread).

I was the one in the other thread saying that id take 3 UGA defensive players over will anderson.

Adam Anderson has 3 sacks, 7 pressures in 39 pass rush snaps. He is the elite of the elite in pass rush. And he is NFL good as a OLB in pass coverage.

For the record, i wouldnt take nolan smith over will anderson. Nolan is having a 1st round nfl draft season. But he doesnt have elite length. Body type may put him in the 2nd round.

Is that you Lane ?

“He’s a dominant player,” Kiffin said when asked of Anderson. “I said it this week: he looks like Derrick Thomas, which is amazing at his age. I mean, the guy’s a freak I guess from who we played over time, I mean, he’s not as tall as Myles Garrett but (he’s) as disruptive as that. They’ve got great players all over, but he’s the best of them.”

Will Anderson would certainly start over Nolan Smith. No question. And that's not a knock on Smith, he's playing very well right now, but W. Anderson is better by birth with his reach advantage.

Will can do things that Nolan can't. There isn't anything that Nolan can do that Will can't do.

He doesn't have the most tackles on the TEAM. It doesn't matter though, he's still the best.

Another thing to consider.

Will is obviously the best player in Bama's front 7, so opposing offenses have to try and scheme around him. Nolan is an afterthought for opposing OCs in the Georgia defense. They have to focus on #99, #88, #17, #19 and #95 instead.

In other words, opposing OCs against Bama say "we aren't going to let Will Anderson beat us". No one would ever say "we can't let Nolan Smith beat us" when there are all those other dudes on UGA's front.

And it’s probably not the one smart ran at bama, so this comparison is stupid. All 3 will be high draft picks.

UGA doesnt have a OLB with more than 5 TFL on their roster

To be fair, they’re averaging about half of game of PT, if that.
