Tennessee has probably been the best team for 2-3 seasons now, and now added the best SEC season ever and a title

On LSU to respond I think, otherwise I believe the torch has been passed

VOLS won a natty. Might be the start of something, might not, but at this moment in time, we are on top of the world.

I'm going to enjoy it for what it is, head down to the parade tonight with my kids and live in the moment.

With 3 CWS in 4 years and the current CWS Champs...Tennessee is definitely the Hot team in the SEC...but being the "king" requires more than that. No way a team could be considered the king without multiple championships.

Seems to be some major recency bias, much like Clemson was going to be the new king of CFB in 2018.

If they win another one within 5 years, then I think that kind of talk will be warranted.

uhhh LSU still has 7 titles...SC still has 2, Vandy still has 2, UF is in Omaha quite often.

TV will have to be doing this for a decade plus to even consider a torch being passed.

I think it needs to be said that it's certain LSU fans, not at all the majority.

Honestly, I woulda said Arky was big dog of the baseball world for the past 5-10 seasons. Feel like yall almost always had our number. But it does look like Tennessee has taken over now.

One of the more consistent programs in the SEC as of late.

Sully was hired in 2008.

CWS appearances:

2010
2011 (lost natty)
2012
2015
2016
2017 (won natty)
2018
2023 (lost natty)
2024

Won the conference tourney in 2011 and 2015

Won or shared the regular season conference championship in

2010
2011
2014
2017
2018
2023

Sully makes Vitello look like a Johnny come lately

And Vitellos's 11-4 record vs LSU during that time frame speaks to why.

It's a very selective time frame in that Vitello was 3 years into building his program while LSU was basically pushing one coach out and hiring a new one.

Remember 2021 and 2022 when MSU and Ole Miss won it for the first time and their fans were so humble and grateful? Remember how they even congratulated each other and celebrated the entire state with each other? Remember how 90%+ of opposing fans celebrated with/for them?

Even LSU last year was pretty humble and bearable (for LSU).

Man, those were the days.

Baseball is a different sport, it's far too fickle and failure is the norm. It doesn't lend credence to a lot of shite talk.

Many Vols try to talk shite about baseball like you would football, I assume because they haven't been great in football for a long time.

LSU is like Michigan football. We thought they were dormant, but a recent, unexpected title raised new questions as to whether they can be revived as a power.

TBD whether they can actually maintain an elite position going forward though, especially in the NWO led by the Vols

Dormant?

They played for a title in 2017...

Vitello is a good coach, but I do not think most people at LSU are to worried about him being the next Skip Bertman.
