Well lets look at his stats. The numbers give a more accurate reading of a player's skill then the number of games a team he was on won.

Tebow completed 66% of his passes for more then 9000 yards in college. He threw for 88 TDs and had 16 picks. His QB rating was 170.8 which is pretty darn solid.

But that wasn't the totality of his offensive contributions. He also rushed for nearly 3000 yards and added another 57 TDs on the ground.

In 2007 he had 4181 yards of total offense and accounted for 55 TDs.

Based purely on the numbers if those stats make him the most overrated player in SEC history then may God smite Arkansas with such a player and curse us with him for a full 4 years.

This is why expansion is a bad idea. New fans with no connection to the conference history, ask stupid questions.

Manziel. the Heisman and all of the hype surrounding him was over 1 win over Alabama that in hindsight was inconsequential.

Leak was one-dimensional in the red-zone - and in 3rd down situations. No way Florida wins that Natty without Tebow on 3rd downs and in the Red Zone.

Leak was strictly a drop-back QB. He couldn't (or wouldn't) run the Meyer/Mullen Read-Option. Tebow was made for it.

Tebow is definitely overrated.

It's clear the talent around him made him look MUCH better than he actually was...now that we know how limited he was as far as his skills go.

Tebow was one of the greatest all-around athletes to ever play in the SEC. Also one of the greatest winners.

He makes Manziel look like a clown, on and off the field.

Manziel is still the only player to throw for 3,000, throw 20+ TD passes, rush for 1,000 and score 20+ rushing TD all in the same season...and Taylor Bertolet is the reason A&M didn’t win it all in 2012.

Your beloved Jordan Taamu. Shea Patterson is better than he is.

Seems like Tebow gets a lot of credit for the year Chris Leak led the Gators just because of name recognition.

If your goal was a Tebow jerk off session then you were highly successful.

This may be the dumbest, most homer-anti-rival comment EVER posted on the Rant. You can’t be serious saying Archie was over rated. Did you ever see him play?

Unfortunately I’d have to name an A&M player.

I love all the Johnny manziel is most overrated player when everyone on this thread thinks he is average.

Can’t be overrated if no one thinks highly of you outside one fan base.

No Tim Tebow is not over-rated. He was a great college QB. I think if I needed 2 yards I would want him with the ball in his hands.

May be, but if it's 4th and one, I want Jacob Hester with the ball:

If I rubbed a genie's lamp and could come up with an imaginary college football team of my choosing to play an imaginary college football game against the toughest of opponents in the most difficult of circumstances/conditions, he'd be on the short list to play QB.

And I'm quite aware of the flashier folks with greater physical tools and greater ability to freestyle and create something out of nothing. And you'll note that I specifically said "college football game."

So the answer is a great big negatory.

The only reason Tim and the Gators didn't win 3 of 4 NC's in due to Nick Saban and Bama in 2009.

A&M...more mouth than trophies and it is documented.
