I hope he starts today. Would be a great story of redemption if he did and pitched a great game.

Start him, bring in Harding when he is needed and hopefully have Sims for the last two innings.

Houston Harding is not a six inning pitcher. And it's Landon Sims, not Brandon Sims. Have you even watched our team?

Dude, please, I’d run circles around you regarding MSU baseball. Oh I made a mistake and typed Brandon instead of Landon. We have a Brandon Smith so I confused the name, it happens, big whoopty.

You are wrong about Harding, he can pitch 5 - 6 innings out of the pen. In fact, last Monday he pitched 5 innings and then Sims closed it out to win the regional. Maybe its you who really know little about MSU baseball.

Not sure if fold is the right word. I think most baseball fans see ND as the better team after 2 games if we're being honest. Damn near all of our runs have come from Tanner Allen and Rowdey Jordan. If we can keep them under 6 runs today, I like our chances, but we need crafty on the mound.

We don’t have a 3rd day starter; I think they win by a similar score tomorrow.

Houston Harding is starting he will do fine. Bullpen is my concern. If we can get 6 innings out of Hootie, 2 out of Simmons or Cade Smith, then let Sims close it we have a shot.

I hope ND Sunday pitching isn’t good we need bats to show up today more than anything. ND will score a minimum of 6 runs we gotta hit with them we aren’t gonna hold them under 5 runs imo

I can’t disagree with this. Take away ND’s errors on Saturday and it is already over. That said, who knows what they have left in terms of starting pitching for today. Could be we aren’t as good game 1 and game 2 but are a better game 3 team than they are. I hope so.

Whoever we pitch needs to be someone who keeps the ball low in the zone. Pitch to contact, ND is gonna hit the ball so strike out pitchers aren’t as effective. Needs guys who can keep it low and paint the corners, cause ground balls and weak pop ups.

So you want to start Harding against a righty-heavy mashing lineup? Again, you clearly have not watched us play this year. If Harding starts, he won't make it five or six innings. Take a seat and let the grownups talk.

Hard to disagree with the above.

Also - hard to disagree that in the series - ND has shown to have the possible upper hand - but as mentioned in posts above - hopefully yall can get good production out of whoever is on the bump, and bats gets hot, and do it early - get some back up from the Dudy Noble faithful as well. Sure hope MSU makes it happen - really want to see at least 3 SEC teams in the CWS.

on a diff note - how is Jake Mangum moving along at the next level?

Hadn’t kept up much but since you asked took a look and says he got bumped from the high A Brooklyn Cyclones to the Double A Binghamton Rumble Ponies in late May. Also see where Cole Gordon is listed on the Rumble Ponies’ roster.

You know on a side note it’s sad how much MLB has died. I can’t think of a single current “star” mlb player. Seems like nobody really keeps up with it anymore.

I remember as a kid in the 90s I loved MLB. The McGuire/Sosa/Griffey Jr homerun race was so much fun to keep up with.

They should have just let players keep juicing. They took the fun out of watching it when the Karen’s of the world bitched about steroids

He’s added some power to his bat and is capable of hitting a HR here and there.

Some part of me hopes that after a long MLB career, he comes back to State as a coach. He’s my favorite State player in any sport of all time.

ND is a better team.
I’ll be ecstatic if we pull out a win, but I’m not expecting it.

He struggled pretty badly his rookie season (batted below .200 or low .200s, IIRC). He started this season off a little better and got called up to AA a few weeks ago. He is currently batting .250 on the season, but was at .350 just a week and a half ago.

As someone mentioned, his power numbers are up. He's hit 3 homers this season. If Jake Mangum taught me anything during his MSU career, it's that he will find a way to adapt no matter what. I think he will keep improving, slowly but surely.

Your post did not age well. He looked solid!!

Now learn from me, I was proven right because I actually know our team.

Everyone saw the 4 errors and didn’t watch the damn games to see that state didn’t catch a single break. ND was hitting balls off the fricking hands and caps that were dropping for hits in those first games.
