There's a reason CBS consistently puts LSU-Bama Primetime and that the game always has good ratings.

No the reason is because that game has essentially decided the SEC for the better part of a decade. With LSU's fall-off, I bet that won't continue.

LSU vs. Alabama is what Tennessee vs. Florida used to be. Within a few years there will be another "Biggest" game for the SEC regular season. Things are always changing.

Losing popularity? hell no.....matchups just haven't been as intriguing as the Top 3.

I would have thought Bama-USC would have had more viewers but it was a holiday weekend and there were tons of good games on...we'll get a bump with Bama-Aggie.

Maybe because everyone knows Bama will win it. CFB feels very anticlimactic to me this year.

Sad state of affairs when Ole Miss is the most popular national brand in the SEC.

People want to have one last glimpse of Ole Miss football before it's too late.

I've said it before, but Alabama is bad for college football.

No reason to get weird... You said LSU Alabama has decided the SEC for years. That is correct.

If LSU beats Ole Miss, nothing has changed.

SEC ratings and CBS win again on Nov 5th.

The SEC is getting killed in television ratings compared to year's past. Here are the top-rated games so far this season based on number of viewers:

Not yet. If you look at the top 3 they have one thing in common, primetime and big intersectional matchups. Also, number 4 was primetime. Other than USC I know Bama hasnt played a primetime game that wasnt up against a marquee game as well. Same for LSU, same for Georgia, etc. The SEC primetime games so far havent been sterling. We've had Kentucky's and Mizzou's a lot. We'll be coming around these next few weeks.

Possibly. All I'm saying is that these games are all cyclical. Every time I watch the Tennessee-Florida game nowadays, I can't help but think what a let down it is compared to how that game was revered for a full decade as the biggest regular season game for the SEC. It wasn't even close. Now its just another game.

Alabama-LSU has always been a good rival, but it only reached "Premiere SEC Matchup" status beginning around 2009 or so. It may hang on another year or two, but history says there will be another annual matchup take its place within a few years.
