I say we and will continue to do so. I've been a fan my entire life and went to Alabama many years ago. Bandwagon fans come and go but the true Bama fans are here and will always be here.

As far as saying "we", whatever. Don't really care. But, as many thousands of dollars as I have invested going to Bama football games over the years, frick you for calling me a "sidewalk fan".

I proudly said "we" during the Dubose/Fran/Price/Shula era.

If you went to the school, yes.

If not, no. I'm not against t-shirt fans, but it's like saying "we" about a pro team.

I think in general the players appreciate the fans saying "we". How important would it be to them if no one watched the games? Or if they went to the games but didn't cheer or care that much? I've graduated Bama before these players were born. I've been to 5 NC games and countless home and road games. I feel very comfortable saying "we" but I also think its OK for any fan to say "we".

There are a ton of sports that have little to no fans. Fans aren't necessary for the sport. They are necessary for the money and popularity of it though. There is a very distinct difference between fan and someone actively part of the program. Their "we" is definitely a billion times more valid.

The sports I played I over the years, including football at a large semi successful high school, fans and students saying we didn't bother me. I wouldn't say appreciating it would be what I would call it. Those frickers weren't out there with me for two a days.

I this strictly a message board controversy? Everyone I know in real life that is a serious sports fan refers to the teams they follow as "we". Hell, I sometimes refer to OU as "we", and I'm barely a casual fan.

It's strictly a manufactured controversy.

Look, I'm gonna lay some truth down right now. Everyone, imagine your team with no sidewalk fans. A perfect paradise where the only people in the stands are those who deserve to be there.

Got the mental picture?

If you're imagining your team being any more successful than Rice or Tulane (or maybe even Sewanee), then your vaunted degree isn't worth its weight in dog shite.

Can you say "we" if you attended a home game in which the home-field advantage seemed to be asignificant factor?

Again, sidewalk fans didn't make the program's success. The program's success makes sidewalk fans. How many sidewalk fans did Bama have before Bryant relative to the rest of the country?

Times have changed bro. It's all about money and the "sidewalk fans" are where a lot of that money comes from.

So the shell came before the chicken or the rest of the egg. Gotcha.

Probably most I'd imagine. Before post WWII G. I. bill University was mainly for the privileged, wasn't it?
