Is it OK for anyone that identifies with a particular program to say we? Must you be a graduate or current student? Or, must you actually be a part of the team?
I think it's just fine to say "we".
I know you Aggies get real butthurt over "t-shirt" fans. In Louisiana, most of the LSU fans never attended the school. Many are blue-collar or just plumb dumb. But hey, it's a publicly funded university. Their taxes go to it.
And no, the fan base is part of the "we". Without them, your athletic department would be shite.

I thought this was in reference to Aggies saying "we" when talking about the SEC. I can't do it yet. It's not that I don't think we belong, but still adjusting to everything. Probably will take a couple of years.

They always fall in the trap, and it never fails.

I remember Greg McElroy going off on fans after Alabama lost to Auburn in the Iron Bowl, when they kept calling in and saying "we should have won". He basically said (to paraphrase): When you say "we", I don't think any of you were down on the field busting your asses and getting hurt, and I guarantee however upset you are, we are more upset.
I don't think he was worried about distinguishing between people who went to Alabama or sidewalk fans.

Posters on the SECr usually call people on saying "we" in lieu of any actual salient point. It's all part of the SECr wheel of intellectual dishonesty.

If only Alumni attended football games there wouldn't be a stadium to watch the games in.

I say we when I am on my phone and too lazy to type out Alabama.

You really are asking permission on a message board? I tend to put little value in the opinion of strangers. You do what you feel good doing, and in the word of TT'sTowel "Why? because FRICK YOU that's why"

I say we because my degree allows me to say so.

Don't know him well enough on here to know either way, but it was funny in the context he used it.

Let's get it down to brass tacks, and I know you'll appreciate this, dkreller.
We say 'we' because, honestly. Who the frick is gonna do anything about it when all the cards are down on the table except stand there, impotently, like a jagoff?

He's one of the ones worth knowing, and one of my best friends on here.
