We say 'we' because, honestly. Who the frick is gonna do anything about it when all the cards are down on the table except stand there, impotently, like a jagoff?
This could be said for all message board posts. Not just the "we"s.

Fans are the MOST qualified to call themselves a part of the organization... from my perspective.
Um...how about no.
Certainly fans play a role in the success of a program. And I think that's one the main things that separates the SEC from other conferences. We (the SEC) have some of the best, most rabid fans in the country. It's the South, we love our college football.
But I strongly disagree with the opinion that fans are the MOST qualified to call themselves a part of the organization because there is literally no qualifications to be a fan. None whatsoever. I could wake up tomorrow and call myself a fan of the Seattle Seahawks or something but I can't say I'm a huge part of the organization.
A huge fanbase is not a reason for the program's success, just an effect. How many sidewalk fans did Bama have before Bryant compared to other programs? Probably not many. But after Bryant and because continued success, Bama has a huge sidewalk fanbase. I'm not hating, just a couple facts. Same with Yankees, Cowboys, etc.

I don't have lines from movie stars memorized to know the difference so you got me there.

I mean I understand the argument otherwise....I'm not on the team...blah blah blah
The stadium wouldn't be so big if it were just alumni.
But frankly, the school wouldn't remain open if people didn't attend.
I'll proudly continue to say "we" when referring to anything LSU.

I don't see a problem with it.
But when you make a good argument using "we" there'll always be those few who have nothing smart to add so they'll troll with the "what number are you?" nonsense. Usually AU fans who do it. They've got nothing else going for them this year, so they've gotta do something.

Fortunately for me, you're not alone in this sentiment.

All true. And besides, the argument could be made that anyone who attends games or even watches them on television is making a contribution to the cause-at-large.

Good Will Hunting.
Will: He used to just put a belt, a stick, and a wrench on the kitchen table and say, "Choose."
Sean: Well, I gotta go with the belt there.
Will: I used to go with the wrench.
Sean: Why?
Will: Cause frick him, that's why.

Good stuff. In all fairness to TT he never said it was his own. I just found the line funny in the thread he started.

Personally I think "we" only applies to your time at the university. If you never attended you can never use it, if you are currently a student it is approprite. I graduated State in '93 so I cannot claim to be apart of anything prior to '89 or after '93

Sucks for you.

If its a state school and you pay state taxes you can say we all you want to because you are paying for those little frickers to go to school for free.
I have paid state taxes in Bama, does that mean I can claim Bama now lol.....
Alumni and current students is really reaching, should be only people actively on staff and current players.

I think in general the players appreciate the fans saying "we". How important would it be to them if no one watched the games? Or if they went to the games but didn't cheer or care that much? I graduated Bama before these players were born. I've been to 5 NC games and countless home and road games. I feel very comfortable saying "we" but I also think its OK for any fan to say "we".
