Of course there is also the possibility he goes to another team , does well, and decides to stay there

Yes, if he's winning at a blue blood or in the NFL then we're not getting him back.

I'm beginning to hope he stays and is.

Glad the university kept him and paid him.

According to a former player, Kiffin was a “cancer” for the team and should have been removed earlier. Saban’s grace ran out.

What a load of bull shite. Saban knew what he was getting in Kiffin. A savant that smashed coeds and drank every night. It's the best hire he ever made.

Yep, a great hire, but his habits didn’t mature enough for the focus that the job demanded.

Love the Bama fan logic here. Sark, a guy who never won more than 8 games in a regular season at two different programs in a mediocre Pac-12 while the most prestigious bowl he led both programs to was the "Holiday Bowl" would be a worthy candidate to replace Saban... but Brian Harsin sucks.

Yeah, please name him coach in waiting. I fricking beg you.

He will not be named coach-in-waiting. He is a very good OC/play-designer/play-caller and QB evaluator/recruiter/developer. That is what he is being paid for. IMO, some Bama fans are jumping to conclusions. In the recent past there were fans who thought Cristobal, then Kiffin were the heir-apparent. The truth is, no one, including Coach Saban, knows how things will unfold.

A coach doesn't have to be great to do good or great things at Alabama: Stallings 27-45 at A&M had the first SEC 13-0 season and won a NC, 70-16-1 on-field in 7 years, also 11-1 and 12-1 and 10-3 seasons, Curry, who had the worst record in UK history, won 10 games and an SEC title, Mike DuBose who later became a HS coach won 10 games and an SEC title vs Spurrier, even Mike Shula won 10 games in a season, etc. And Curry, DuBose and Shula were in very turbulent times. Whoever succeeds CNS will likely be set up very well. Alabama has historically been a good program.

Sark would be an excellent fit and a slam dunk hire imho! They should hire him and give him a lifetime contract!
You might regret that.

Eh, alot of people think so. It's possible.

It's also possible they paid him so he wouldnt go to Auburn and do what Lane did to us this year at Ole Miss.

Coach Saban will leave the cupboard stocked and will become a great ambassador for the school. If he could win a title this year and next, I could see him leaving on that high note to a bar-none greatest coaching career ever

So far, all Sark has done is set the bar for coordinators in the SEC. The next coaching search that Sark's name is attached to will provide the best answer.

Sabans retirement will be strategically planed. The year after, Bama will have the easiest cupcake schedule ever to be recorded.

Auburn fans thought they had him and most of them were very happy about it.

Depends on Saban retires anytime soon
Kind of like muschamp named Texas coach on waiting but not passing up a job like Florida

I'd guess, other than the nice pay bump, there were discussions formally or informally along those lines. If Saban can lock down continuity at the coordinator positions over next 3-4 years with the talent in the last 2 classes, we may see his best teams yet.

As long as LSU is on the schedule, I agree.

We can only play you once a season unfortunately.

Well, except for that one time....

They are paying him a lot to just be a coordinator.

Coordinators are historically expendable to Saban, so it’s a little interesting that they are doing everything they can to keep him around.

1) Compared to Saban and the Tide's salaries level, not really.
2) He's proven to be a great OC, so why wouldn't they try to keep him?
3) NO decision has been made regarding Alabama's next coach because nobody knows when we'll need one.
