This is the key. My opinion is if he throws less than 10 INT's, they will have a very successful season. We have had 2 QB's that couldn't consistently throw a slant route and over their 4 years we won over 40 games.
I think they will be fine and should be right there at the end of the season to make the playoff, assuming he isn't a turnover machine.

To a certain extent, yes. But you can no longer hide your QB in the SEC like you could 5-6 years ago. The offenses overall are a lot more potent nowadays, and your QB will have to make plays to win games.

LSU knows this all too well. We won 9 games in '09 and 11 in '10 with practically no QB and a stout defense, but the complexion of the league is much different now.

That's not to say that bama can't win a lot of games with a below average QB. They can, just not as many as they're expecting. Jake Oker can't lead them to the division title on bubble screens alone.

that might have been true last season, but the prolific QBs of last season are all gone. No Johnny, no chest tat, no Murray, no Mettsiah. I think we will see a return to more dominant defenses this season.

We have the makings of a contender with a solid quarterback. There is nobody else that can deliver at this position on the current roster.

Some of it is being "overrated", but much of it is just the hopefulness of being a fan. For example, I was able to convince myself that a shorthanded Brazil could beat Germany in the WC semis. It's not a matter of overrating the players who had to step in, it's a matter of needing to believe it.

Yeah, that's true, but the offensive systems as a whole are still geared towards putting up a lot of points. Five or six years ago, I think UF was the only team running the uptempo/spread/option/whatever. Now I think there are more teams running it than not running it.

I know Mettenberger had a lot of hype behind him but the expectations weren't this high

Actually, they were... But that 12-10 shite fest at Auburn in 2012 put an end to all that.

While there is alot of hype on this guy, remember, he got beat out by a freshman last year at Florida State. Given, that Freshman was Jamis Winston, but nevertheless, he was an upper classman.

Also, not to compare the body of work Alabama has accomplished in the last 5 years to us, but Tyler Bray also had significant offensive weapons in his last year at Tennessee, and we still finished 5-7. Alabama's defense is much more stout, but just because the weapons are there is not dis-positive of great QB play.

if coker has a 12 TD/7 INT year, would that be good enough at bama?

Brent Schaffer was hyped up bigtime. He was named the starting QB before he ever arrived on campus.

Bama fans aren't hyping this guy nearly as much as aTm fans are hyping Kyle Allen. They're seriously expecting this true freshman to come in and lead their team to victory.

We went undefeated and won a NC with Greg fricking McElroy at QB.

Coker could perform really average and we'll still be favored to win it all.

I think Jake Oker's gonna have y'all longing for McElroy, esp. with Shitstain Lane guiding him.

It would probably be best for the board if next time you wait for us to ask your opinion, if we want to know, we will definitely ask!

Jacob has already accepted Dante Fowlers ring since he is going to get humped good when the Gators show up and display a REAL SEC defense.

Expect to see replacement qb by second half.
