It’s not dead weight. I’ve been told the money was all fronted. No campaigning needed to raise the money if he doesn’t work out.

You don’t spend $20M to leave a conference, $500M on a stadium renovation, then almost $15M to buyout a fired coach and assistants just to go coach shopping at the bargain bin.

We have the money to buy any coach willing to leave their current position. Jimbo was the best available to fit that description and he had a working relationship with our AD from his LSU years.

I’m glad we have wealthy boosters that are passionate about being successful in football. Costs me nothing and eventually it’ll lead to success.

I’ll give you that. If Jimbo elevates A&M to a perennial 10 win team- even if he ends up not being able to accomplish more than that- that would be money well spent. Being a regular 10-win team every season can go a long way in changing the perception of a program, so again yeah that would be money well spent. We shall see if he can accomplish that though, I think it is far from guaranteed

Nothing is guaranteed. But all things considered we made the safest hire of anybody. That’s why it costed so much.

In the future, it will cost you. AD's have ways of increasing revenue.

Maybe the spot you've been parking at will cost you $40 a game next year instead of $30. Maybe you'll have to pay $100 a game to put an ez-up down and tailgate.

Or more likely, the 50k students at the school will see a miscellaneous $100 fee every semester that goes straight to the AD.

Just the price of the A&M experience.

Jimbo will be worth it or not. If so , money well spent, if not they will try again until they get it right.

UGA and A&M have improved their program the greatest.
JMO.

Better than the tuition hikes I had as a student when Congress deregulated tuition.

I would be happy if $100 football fee was all that was added

And Hermann better figure out something soon, because most of his OL are graduating, leaving early, or just plain transferring. He cannot even field a two-deep at this time

Their DB class is awesome though

LSU was guilty of the above for several years under Miles and made it difficult to compete with the better programs in the conference. Mississippi State and Troy this year were a direct result of a lack of decent line play on both sides of the ball.

It's not just an A&M thing.

I've watched LSU charge for parking far away from campus, restrict tailgating, and spike up TAF fees. Combine that with the increasing number of neutral site games, and its definitely hurt the experience.

LSU fan - but Ags pay our coach to much

Ag fan - boosters pay it anyway

LSU fan - you’ll have to pay too in fees etc

Ag fan - just the price of playing ball

LSU fan - we pay that too

Am I taking crazy pills? We just went in a circle. You’ve just admitted y’all pay as much as we do as fans. Yet we have all the money to buy Jimbo and LSU didn’t and it’s not costing fans any more.

MHO. I applaud A&M for making Texas squirm. The University of Texas has caused the dissolution of the Southwest conference, the destruction of the Big Eight and the inevitable continuing death of the Big XII.

They are the definition of a "pariah".

They may as well go independent like Notre Dame. They coerce anyone that is in their league and then complain that no other league will accept them. They bitch and complain about playing in a 9 game league schedule and bitch about those that play eight. Key word is BITCH.

Why did Nebraska, Colorado, Texas A&M and Missouri leave the sty that has become Midwest football?

Pretentious assholes is putting it mildly. I have followed threads where they discussed "PODS". TA&M, Arkansas, LSU, UT.

Arizona, Arizona State, Southern California and UCLA.

They act like P5 conferences are begging them to join.

I beg to differ.

They actually believe if they called the SEC office that the SEC would kick out A&M to get Texas.

They couldn’t get in at all if they tried yet they think not only they could get in but dictate the terms they would join and have a standing member kicked out.

The lack of intellectual curiosity in this post is just sad. I find it difficult to believe you actually attended, much less graduated from, the University of Georgia. Several books have been written about the decline and fall of the SWC and the creation of the BigXII.

As for the breakup of the BigXII, since you seem to favor more simplistic explanations that focus blame on Texas:

BigXII Results vs. Texas
NEB - 1-9
COL - 3-7
MIZ - 2-7
TAM - 5-11
