Eight-win Jimbo. Jameis Winston's not walking through that door.

Yeah, the state of Texas doesn’t make many elite QBs to choose from...

Drew Brees
Matt Stafford
Ryan Tannehill
Andrew Luck
Matt Flynn
Johnny Manziel
RG3
Vince Young
Colt McCoy
Baker Mayfield
Andy Dalton
Case Keenum

Not sure how Jimbo will ever find a QB to run his offense

Looks a lot like many of LSU classes that got us no where. All flash and no trench warfare, that recipe doesn't work.

Aggy/Aggie (Which is it?) really desperate to be relevant.

Occams's Razor. The simplest explanation is usually the correct one. It will be Feast or Famine for A7M with Jimbo. They'll be improved and more consistent with Fisher, but not 10 million a year improved.

Maybe they'll just be satisfied if that 10M gets them a win over LSU every few years or so....................

Funny that people care how much we pay our coach. First, I’d rather pay Jimbo 7.5 per than Sumlin 5 per.

Second, and more importantly, none of us here are paying that. I’m a season ticket holder and I’m not even paying that.

We have stupid rich donors that support our program. Deal with it.

Herman signed 4 highly regarded OL. How many more should he have signed?

Great point.

Also it’s why Aggie (not Aggy) hasn’t done well. Herman had an awful recruiting class last year. So give Fisher a break. Feel free to bash Aggy (lol) next year if he has a poor class.

And seriously, those who can’t ‘see’ LSU Ranters starting threads about A&M ... it just comes across as idiotic as you have more posters on this site. Just as I can see A&M flaming LSU... I don’t but I’ve seen some threads and they are much less than LSU’s. If an A&M poster starts a thread. It’s highly likely it gets jacked by someone who should be on a big 12 board.

Merry Christmas btw.

Herman and Fisher both turned down LSU. That's gotta sting. In fact, Fisher has turned down LSU twice in the last 2 years. That'll leave a scar.

No, neither of them turned down LSU. Both demanded far more money than they were worth. Jimbo asked us for the deal that A&M gave to him. We laughed and told him to frick off

4 highly regarded OL?

One JuCo transfer that had 6 offers.
One Utah kid that will do a 2 year mission and be to campus in 2020 (why even count that kid?)
That leaves two good OL recruits although one is only 280 pounds and the other is 290. They need instant impact guys. Maybe you can play OL in the B12 at 280 these days.

*cough*bullshite revisionist history*cough*

and if so Congrats on passing on Jimbo to save a buck?? Must suck to have to run a program on a tight budget and with an idiot for A.D.

Don’t pretend like you don’t think Alleva fricks everything up. Including how he handled the firing of the best coach in your school’s history.

Here’s how I look at things ... I believe LSU’s football revenue was 86 million in 2016. Excluding donations for Kyle Field. I believe A&M.s revenue was around 133 million.

My understanding was LSU did offer Jimbo 5/6 years at 6.5 per season. So without flaming ... we offered him 1 more per season for 4/5 more years. That said ... the discrepancies in revenue more than offset the additional higher ‘costs’ of our coaching staff.

Who knows if it’s a smart move or not... but it’s a move that A&M has the ability to cover.

It's not about ability to pay it is about willingness.

LSU wasn't - kind of sad we aren't willing to go all out

Time will tell how it plays out

It’s great that you think shelling out an extra $40 million for your coach will bring you great success, but that’s just not how it works. Jimbo might be a solid coach, but he has accomplished very little relatively without Jameis Winston, and that would be why we didn’t shell out $75 million for him

The entire point though is that Jimbo’s $75 mil is guaranteed. A&M is locked into that for a long, long time here, regardless of how much revenue their football program makes. $6.5 mil per year for 5/6 years isn’t in the same stratosphere as $7.5 million for 10 years. That contract, if 4 years from now Jimbo has flopped, is going to be some unbelievable dead weight to carry around

Good point as well. It would be around 35 million more than LSU would have to pay. Probably 40 counting assistants. Let’s say we’ve been averaging 8 wins the last 3/4 years. I think we will get 8 at best next due to the brutal schedule and having to change offenses. But if somehow we can get to 10 wins (average) - is that amount worth the extra 1 mil per season because he shouldn’t get fired for 10 wins per season. So an extra 2 W’s per season. Definitely worth it. However- if we stay at the current win total - 40 extra million would suck. No matter how ‘rich’ any program is.
